  • Mizzou has beaten Mississippi State just once in program history, downing the then-No. 6 Bulldogs, 66-54 at Mizzou Arena. That was the last time the two programs faced off in Columbia, Mo.
  • The Bulldogs have won two consecutive games in the series with both meetings coming in Starkville.

I'm really looking forward to this one. Thank gods for DVR. I like the idea of Mizzou trying to get physical with McCowan as they did with Wilson. Aja is not weak, but she's all about finesse, while Teiara might just find the little hands hacking at her a little irritating. Other than her, though, and MSST is not as big as Mizzou.

If Vivians and Shaefer are shooting well and the guards feed McCowan high, this is no contest. There is that if, though.

Mizzou is a tough place to play as SC knows all too well. This one could go down to the wire. I’d like to see Mizzou pull off the upset.

I watched the Mizzou vs SC game and I lost a lot of respect for the Mizzou team and coach. They were very rough, beyond basketball rough. I'm surprised more players weren't ejected from the game.

This is a trap game for MSU with SC coming up Sunday in Starkville. Mizzou is no slouch team and road games in the SEC are tough. Vivians has been on fire this season and McGowan has evolved into one of the best post players in the country. If they play well MSU should win but it will take both. Cunningham is a gamer.

16-14 Mizz end of Q1

Cunningham 7 pts

McCowan & Schaefer 6 pts ea

Would Geno schedule a home game for Napheesa against Missouri next year? They are leading a tough Miss St team by 10 points with 2:30 until half time.

The real questions is, would Missouri schedule the game? ;)

MSS has their hands full tonight on the road against a patience, experienced Mizzou that executes. 31-21 Mizzou with 2:12 in the half.

Me would like so very much.

Vic's daughter looking like a real liability on defense tonight, and Mizzou willing to take advantage of it on postup's and step throughs.

This one's getting closer. Schaefer is hitting threes.

Impressed with Miss St's defense and can't afford to leave Schaefer open for 3 point shots. Mizzou is slow afoot, but their physicality is keeping them in the game against Miss St.

Sophie Cunningham with a hip check on a screen that would qualify her for the NHL. 4th foul. That will hurt but Vivians completely out of whack . 47-47 tie but do not see Mizzou holding on

How do you stop McCowan when she parks her 6'7" body in the low post and then powers back to make easy layups over the front rim. She's unstoppable if she gets the ball and concentrates on her shot. Stevens would foul out after 10 minutes of play if Geno matched her against her. Missouri is playing like UConn did in the Semi-finals, no one wants to take a shot against Miss St's defense. Too much dribbling.

Mizzou coach gets a T at the worst possible moment this game.

There's the game, Mizzou Coach gets a Technical for coming on to the court. Miss St 4 point lead with the ball.

IMO UConn easily beats Mizzou by double digits. They're slow afoot and UConn has too many shooters.

Wow, Cunningham. What a shot. Tied at 53 with 9 seconds to go, Miss St ball.

EDIT: And Vivians hits a shot on the other end to go up 55 - 53.

Compare how far Staley came on the court (multiple times) in the homer game last week against Missouri and then tell me that this 'T' was deserved...

Well it's tough when your team gets hosed for the second game in a row. This one being at home. I don't blame her for being pissed.

I will take this one. Ugly win but still a win. Sometimes you take these and move on. Ready for SC in Starkville Sunday.

So a 4 Point win on the road to a similarly ranked team as Texas. Is this similar to UCONN win at Texas? If so which game tonight was more impressive, UCONN vs SC or MS State vs Mizzou?

Easy answer there Connecticut ‘s win over USCe was very impressive. Our win at Mizzou was just a gut it out win. We did not play well, credit to Missouri for some of that but we also missed shots and shot FT’s poorly. Tough environment as well but we found a way to win.

Officiating was a bit uneven but I don’t fault them too much. It was a very physical game and I think they generally tried to let them play which I am okay with for the most part.

Mizzou Coach made a bad mistake getting the T at the end. The referee actually got the call right. Really McCowan got pushed from behind on the rebound which was why she fell but she never had complete control of the ball.
Don’t blame the Missouri coach for being upset but that really hurt their chance to win the game.
