Michigan State Post Game Thread

Hey, when you have 1 less national championship than La Salle and fewer final fours than Providence getting to the Sweet 16 is a huge accomplishment. Very good job Johnnies. Rick has done a masterful job of making you pretty good.
We have completely different definitions of success. There's levels to this

About the replacement level player . . .

Much appreciated. I mentioned in another thread how I use the chat to see progress as my Hulu is at least a minute behind. It’s good to know when good things are going to happen and prepared for the bad
Yeah, shout out to @nomar internet connection

No you pick a side now. If you don't pick a side in the next 24 hours you are not to be taken seriously.
Another UConn fan deciding whether or not they want to have Jon Scheyer's love child? This crap is getting tiresome. I was around UConn fans and Duke fans last night and the contrast was stark. It's not a hard decision.

All I can say is that I love how our seniors were the difference makers. Karaban has been playing unconsciously with that killer captain's instinct while Reed is having so much fun and things are clicking for him. Malachi was such a pest on defense while his 7-to-1 assist/turnover ration in 17 minutes was [chef's kiss].

Also, shout out to Ball and Mullins for both of them going 2-for-5 from three.

Great character to pull that out. Ball was bouncing M States way as were most of the calls but we played tough!
Must have been in the air. Ball was bouncing for UNC against the women tonight too. Very odd

Elite 8!!!!

Obviously I want to kick the cr@p out of Duke but this season is a big success no matter what.

Ak and Tarris have balled out in these past three games.
.
Happy as hell.

Cherry on top now..

Beat Duke...

Beat the hell out of them...

I want a bit more
Needy and greedy!! Gimme more!!

I don't remember the exact time of the game, but Michigan State had 7 offensive rebounds in the first 8-10 minutes of the game.

They finished with 9. Great job cleaning that up.
I felt like 2-3 of those early offensive rebounds were long, weird angle (lucky) bounces...but yeah, glad to see that didn't continue and we tightened that down.

Both big east teams had double digit leads in the sweet 16.

Only one was able to hang on and actually win the game.
And the St. John's lead was later in the game. 10:30 in the second half they were up by 10. By that point in the UConn-MSU game it was a dogfight.

Totally agree but I'm actually happy I don't have to dislike Zuby anymore. I lean towards rooting for kids who are true scholar athletes and that's a title no one can take from that young man.
I agree. Totally respect Zuby and Bryce Hopkins. Hopkins was already on my "all opponent players" at PC because of his competitive desire. You couldn't ask for better representatives to restore some of the former glory of the St John's program.

Poor Rick. I thought he was going to blow a gut in the huddle at the end of the game. And then with 11 seconds their (by far) worst three point shooter Darling throws up a three that barely hit the rim. Doubt if that was the way it was drawn up.

Am I wrong about this not being drawn up? 11 Seconds is plenty of time to set up more than one option and certainly not him launching it.

Several of those were bad misses that flew right to their players.

I'm guessing it was Darling going rogue and wanting to be the hero for a second game in a row. I could see Zuby and the others were giving him an earful as he walked over to the sideline afterward.

"cherry on top" and "house money"? What are we doing throwing these terms around here for shts sake?
I'm happy with what they've accomplished. There's other stuff in front of them to accomplish but the victory last night felt like a perfectly cooked steak.

A perfectly cooked steak needs some killer sides to make it an amazing meal...

Work left to do but it's a satisfying meal already.

Can Reed go to graduate school so he can play another year or is he somehow ineligible for that (assuming he does not go into the draft)?

Not that long, but short shots off the front rim that were very low and just bounced to MSU guys. It wasn’t anybody just coming in and taking a rebound.

St. John’s was flying and had that game going their way second half until the gimic defense by Duke. They responded poorly to it. Their guards were terrible both sides of the ball. Gotta make Ricky sick because they had that game

You are not wrong, in my mind, Darling wanted to play hero ball, and be the darling at the end of the game again. Selfishness
