no doubt about that, but memphis is becoming a halfway house for other school's rejects. i had my reservations about godfrey even before uconn admissions gave him the thumbs down

He invited 2 friends over to his Vandy dorm. After leaving his dorm, without his participation, they broke into several dorm rooms and stole things. He was suspended for letting them in the dorm.

That is truly an indictment of Memphis athletics, lol

That's not what I was told by someone close to the situation:

"This is similar to what I heard. A close connection with Vandy said they never publicized the reason for the suspension, however he knew it was bc of actions taken by non-students that he let stay in his dorm room. "

This person went into more detail, but that's all I'm willing to post here.

C'mon Memphis he's not a good guy admit something for once. I like you but you are turning your head on some obvious flaws in the selection of kids here by Josh. He did something that Vandy, who was also looking at Godfrey, threw him out for despite being a key player. It wasn't good that's for sure……at the very least he's a punk hanging around with kids who stole things which is questionable at best. And at worst he's a thief!

Either way, a year away and 14pts and 5 assists makes everyone forget?

When I said VIP that means a person close to the program posted info in the thread. Memphis Roar told us whatever Johnson did 10 other SEC would not have gave the punishment Vandy gave him.

Oooofah, not again. Memphis has low admissions standards and is not a particularly strong academic institution, got it. This is well-established as is the fact that they will do what they need to in order to field a competitive basketball team. Can we move on? It's one thing to beat a dead horse when it is directly UConn related but the Memphis bashing is getting a bit old right now. I too hope some of their decisions do not ultimately reflect poorly on the conference and hence UConn but they're going to do what they do.

Vandy's insider said Johnson cheated not Memphis Roar. Roar just said what Johnson did would not require the punishment given to him by Vandy by 10 other SEC schools. Roar could be referencing your source as well. Who knows

Not sure about the reason for the recent Memphis-bashing on this board, their visiting fans have been the most polite that we've had here even through last season's sweep. For that matter, bashing other programs in general is petty and unnecessary, only reflecting poorly on our fan base. As far as student athletes getting into shenanigans, AJ Price is a testament to the fact that good kids can make dumb decisions that do not reflect on a program as a whole .

UofMemphis and Tiger J, thank you for being civil and polite even when some misguided fans on this board claw for the lowest hanging of fruit, and with that being said, I hope we obliterate Memphis for years to come.

I don't judge people by their High School friends. Moreover, players like Mike Dixon and Geron Johnson were considered "questionable at best" and they worked out just fine.

Godfrey and Johnson are additions that don't bother me in the least.

You don't even know what the kid did and you're saying he's not a good guy and a punk. That's a little ridiculous.

Kids mess up. Doesn't necessarily mean he's a bad kid or a punk.
