Megan Walker...2017 #1

I pass through the Boneyard daily, hoping to read that a highly coveted "BIG" has committed to UConn. I'm becoming a little apprehensive when I read about highly ranked recruits on UConn's short list, have commited to other programs.

I want to once again feel the joy and excitement I felt when it was announced that Butler (the big we desperately needed) was transferring in, and Collier, Samuelson and Boykin had all committed to UConn. I want to log on and read about another coveted "BIG" committing to UConn. We know UConn is not for everyone, but it's not the forbidden zone either. All of the top five schools have received verbals from many of the top 25 rated players in the 2016 and 2017 class. OK, now it's our turn.

Before you get riled, I'm not forgetting the players that have already committed to the program, and are coming over the next two years. In Geno I trust. I have no doubt that Geno and staff will find that special post player that fits into the program (has all the intangibles, and checks all the boxes that Geno wants in a recruit) like a glove, and wants to come to Storrs (with the same resolve as Mone' Davis), and become part of Husky lore. I know she's out there. I'm just waiting for her to come home.

Carnac, you should know before anyone who the next great "big" coming to UCONN will be. Just open that damn envelope!

Dougie, you caught me off guard with that one. I laughed out loud!!! Good one ! :)

Again, UCONN scares some elite players, Cox was not ready for that type commitment and traveling away from TX. That is ok and Baylor will get the benefit of her choice......GO UCONN!!!

Based on that game, which I hope she does not, I'd say ND would be her choice. Without their star and one other starter, they lost by only 10. UCONN simply could not stop them from beyond the arc. 65% from 3? Just wow!

I cannot possibly believe that a recruit would base her decision on the results of one game. Also, it is a game but we won, regardless.

Megan is a HS Junior, both teams are going to look completely different by the end of the year if they play again. Next year Both teams will look drastically different because ND has 2 Top 10 ranked recruits coming next year and UCONN has 1. The year after (Megan's Freshmen year) who knows what the teams will look like. 65% from 3 and you fall behind by 20 and still lose by 10 is the other side of the coin.

It's possible UCONN would have won by many more points if Turner had played. The team would have been attempting to get the ball inside and not shot as many threes. Also, if Geno had made the adjustment of putting Moriah on Mabry? in the first half, she would not have hurt UCONN as much as she did.

Does anyone really believe that recruits make their choice based on watching a single game? I can't imagine it, but then again I'm not a 15 year old girl trying to pick a college with many suitors.

I have no idea what a 15 year old would use to decide among basketball suitors, therefore I would not rule out watching a single game as the deciding factor.

On this board, yeah. One poster last year offered that KLS might reconsider her commitment after the Stanford game.

How's this for weird.? ND Hoops made this tweet and Megan Walker retweeted it: LINK

I was coming to the boneyard to try to link this tweet. It's odd that the ND page tweeted that to begin with, but even more strange that she retweeted it. I follow her (I'm 18 so it's not super weird) and so that's how I seen that.

I don't claim to have any 'inside' knowledge or information regarding her, but one of the local HS Girl's BB Coach's here who is a huge presence in the Ohio AAU scene, says that Walker is a done deal to ND and that ND has told a couple of other players that they were recruiting that they no longer have space for them. This same person was the first to say that Kathryn Westbeld was going to ND, when practically everyone had her to tOSU. Again I have no idea what Walker will or will not do, recruiting is such a hinkey business. As far as her coming to UConn on her own dime, is she coming for a visit or just to attend the game? The trip from VA to CT is a straight shot up I-95 and not a really far drive.
Not really a far drive??? There's people that complain about a trip to the shore from midstate and others who complain that they have a twenty five mile commute but hundreds of miles isn't a far drive? The thought of spending hours behind the wheels of a car isn't an appetizing one to me! Guess you feel quite differently!

Good that ND Hoops knows where to look for WBB wit, wisdom, profundity and foolishness.

Speaking of those qualities, the thread is all over the place with several of them, so it's not apparent what generated the chuckle.

Nor is it apparent the retweeter knew, but hey, even mysterious chuckles are better to pass along than muttering and gnashing of teeth.

Maybe it was the two Boneyarders who said they understand Ms. Walker is likely to go to ND. And NDH says "Ha, ha, that's a laugh. Fat chance she's coming here!"

Yeah, I think I'll take that interpretation.

...The trip from VA to CT is a straight shot up I-95 and not a really far drive.
Va to Storrs may be a "straight shot" directions-wise but it can be one miserable drive in traffic with D,C, Baltimore, Philly, and NYC. I spent 5 hours alone navigating around D.C. last year. And 95 from Greenwich to New Haven is no picnic either.

So Lauren Cox and family knew she would not attend UConn but took the trip to UConn at UConn expenses. This is all legal but is it ethical?
Yes. School can give 5 free visits to recruits and if Geno wanted to sign 3, he may have given one to Lauren in the hopes the trip would change her mind. Happens all the time and is part of the recruiting game. I don't blame the kid one bit for taking advantage of all her official visits. So, yes, perfectly ethical and nothing wrong with Lauren taking the trip, even if she thought she wouldn't attend UConn.

Now that people have proof positive that recruits and players at least know what's going on here, if they aren't actually reading the board, could they please stop name-calling and trashing student-athletes, whether they're a UConn player or not? (not this thread - this is a general statement)

So was Megan Walker at the ND game? No was confirmed whether she was actually there or not...

Was going to ask the same question. Could it be what Megan was laughing at-that she was not at the UCONN Vs. ND game?
Megan did tweet this game promotion which includes #BleedBlue.

Isn't Ms.Collier moseying on up from Texas today as well?Or do Texans just sashay on up with their thumbs in their belt? At any rate that is a dynamic duo that could take the court right now and perform quite well.

Smile when you say that---Pardner!!!!!

Sorry to be a sourpuss, but in Saturday's game, it was Notre Dame who was wearing blue.

Not that it is a huge point but I am pretty sure that the school can give as many Official Visits as it wants. However, the recruit is limited to taking a maximum of 5 Official Visits to either DI or DII schools. Recruits may take as many Official Visits as they want to DIII and NAIA schools but may only take 1 visit per school.

You could have just stopped at the comma.
