Meg Culmo

Megan signed on as a broadcaster. The cheerleaders are the cupcakes with the little short skirts.

FYI--- earlier this week, I suggested ESPN give serious consideration to replacing the incessant babbling of Doris Burke with Meg. Meg provides an under stated analysis of the game and her subtle use of humor is extraordinary. Moreover, unlike DB, she rarely, if ever, talks over a play that's going on before our eyes. ESPN didn't respond......:):):)

Only if she could get rid of that hideous laugh of hers? It's beyond annoying and detracts so much from all the positives you state.

I don't like close games, but I won't not watch.

When did you think Stockton out coached Geno? I didn't think it was a coaching thing... just some senior Green Wave players playing the game of their lives tonight.
My recollection is only vague, but it came toward the end of the first half and had to do with the management of time. Collier had gotten her third foul and you could see that UConn rreally wanted to get someone (Nat or Crystal) in to replace her. Tulane vey quickly -- before UConn could do that -- put the ball in play, which prevented UConn from making the substitution and forced UConn to play with Collier and her three fouls laying off the player(s) she was guarding. Just a little thing, but those add up. It would have bn monumental if Collier had picked up a fourth foul at that point, and the way the refs were calling the game, who could know what would happen\? I have to believe Tulane was deliberate in the decision to get the ball in quickly.

And as for the rest, you're right. The Tulane players played the game of their lives, and I have to admit it was fun to watch, even from the other side.

.-.
Gabby did not throw the Tulane player to the ground. She bumped her, and you would have thought she got hit by a dump truck.

Was this the play that Gabby grabbed a rebound and Gabby pushed her in the back?

Meg was outstanding as always. I think that she, Doris, etc. call it like they see it - the fact that people always are ready to nitpick at them probably means they are doing it right in a way.

Meg generally does a good job. In this game I thought there were obvious plays where Lou was creamed taking shots and Culmo said it was a clean play

I'd cut Meg some slack in at least two respects (and your mileage may vary). First, it was a real, honest-to-goodness contest. She was excited to finally call a real game instead of a blow out. Lopsided games are harder to do, and that equates to less fun. She admitted to being excited to have a "close one." Hard to be more honest than that.

The second defense, if any be needed, is that most of her observations were dead-on correct.

.-.
I am not a big fan of Meg. I cannot stand the laugh and in the past she got things wrong a lot. But she has been getting much better. I know this because she makes the same comments as me now. Anyway, she did seem a little too excited near the end of the game, but it is so understandable as so many have said. It didn't bother me at all. The play of CT did.

I might tell her that her analysis of a charge was wrong. That pissed me off. BUT
not only no, but h*ll NO.

We were not the best team on the floor last night.
Meg always talks up the best team on the floor.

I kinda like her. I get a little sick about hearing so much endless worship stuff about this team.
Maybe it's the arrogance that accompanies being so good is what Geno speaks about and how corrosive it can be when you are faced with a REAL game.

Listening to Meg extol the opposing team just brings the reality of the game home. If you don't perform, then why harp on greatness if it's not apparent?

Yes, that and several other instances of flopping by Tulane. I thought the refs must have been newbies who's never seen that before!
