...and Edsall won't give it to you. He is a retread. No one wants to admit it - he is a .500 coach at best. Flat.
That's a step forward from where we're at now (Not an Edsall supporter, just sayin').

Your lack of understanding for what Randy did here, minus his exit, tells me you lack football knowledge or you have an agenda.

Last I knew he was 74-70 at UConn and that inlcluded a jump from 1AA to the Big East rather quickly.

That retread you speak of is, by far, the best coach UConn has had in the FBS era.

9-4 if you include the bowl game. I was there too. Go back and look at that season.

"my lack of football knowledge"

I agree Edsall is the best coach UConn has had in the FBS era. For context, the other two are Paul Pasquiloni and Bob Diaco.

...and that is pathetic

UC...At no point did my reply have anything to do with if Randy was interested.
Sorry my point eluded you...:(
I was responding to the Nathan tweet you posted that said Edsall was interested in coaching again and on UCONN's short list, not to you directly. I responded that of course he's interested since no other school wants him. I think my response made perfect sense.

It all has to do with a QB. You can't tell me we don't win the Fiesta Bowl with Dan O.

Are we still being coached by a Maryland man? If yes, we don't win.

In all honesty... who cares who the next coach is at this point. I'm just glad to have Diaco out. I yelled at him every game since he was hired and didn't have fun once since he was hired. I'll be happy no matter what. Trust Benedict and let's gooooooo

I was going by winning percentage. He was 9-3 in 2003. No bowl. :p

Seriously Edsall is about 9th on my list but I'm not going to downplay what he did here either.

Oh Jesus, stop the self loathing in that case. Ws against Army, Lehigh, Western Michigan (before they were good), Kent State, Akron, Buffalo. Sweet Jesus just stop - this was the 1-AA transition year!

Mmmm, no. His record at UConn was better than that and that included the transition from 1AA to 1A.

Connecticut Huskies (Atlantic 10 Conference) (1999)
1999 Connecticut 4–7 3–5 T–6th
Connecticut Huskies (NCAA Division I-A Independent) (2000–2003)
2000 Connecticut 3–8
2001 Connecticut 2–9
2002 Connecticut 6–6
2003 Connecticut 9–3
Connecticut Huskies (Big East Conference) (2004–2011)
2004 Connecticut 8–4 3–3 T–5th W Motor City
2005 Connecticut 5–6 2–5 T–6th
2006 Connecticut 4–8 1–6 T–7th
2007 Connecticut 9–4 5–2 T–1st L Meineke Car Care
2008 Connecticut 8–5 3–4 5th W International
2009 Connecticut 8–5 3–4 T–4th W PapaJohns.com
2010 Connecticut 8–5 5–2 T–1st L Fiesta

Connecticut: 74–70 22–26 (.514 )
Better comparison is Big East only: 50-37 (.575). Heck he was better than 500 in bowl games.

Golly I guess his record at UConn isn't relevant at all to how he's do at UConn.

this is why UConn will never be a serious program
Because some fans get their panties in a bunch over a rumor?

This program does have a cieling. Had Edsall gotten to it yet -- no, there was a little more to go. But for reasons I've said elsewhere, this program is not going to be a consistent national ranked team. There are too many with far greater resources.

That's exactly the same kind of defeatist thinking that was prevalent around UCONN before John Toner hired Jim Calhoun. Show the right coach a ceiling and he'll blast through it with a howitzer.

I appreciate the sentiment but Calhoun came to UConn as the tourney was expanding to 64 teams; He didn't face anything close to the G5 ceiling. UConn football success, at least in the short-mid term, should not be measured in basketball metrics.

Basketball is most certainly not football. Especially in this part of the country.

no, because some fans get their panties moistened over the prospect of recycling a below average coach, whose current best option is the title of "director of football research-special projects" whatever &*k that means (I think it means a quid pro quo from UConn's Bob Quinn, but I digress)
