I think I can make it home before start time. :D:D 2 of our recruits (Walker - Coombs) are on the East team. Good Luck.

Rosters are at http://www.mcdonaldsallamerican.com/content/aag/en/MediaCenter/2017/2017-game-materials/2017-final-team-roster/_jcr_content/featuredcontent/everything/file.res/2017 BOYS AND GIRLS Final Team Roster_Alphabetical.pdf

I imagine it will be a helter skelter game with no structure  but will still be fun to natch the name to the game. :)[/QUOTE

Don't u have a DVR? Or a VCR ha

Also why no Lexi ???

More info and pregame commentary on this game from a UConn perspective is being placed on the UConn Signee's thread which is not always checked out.

.-.
It will be interesting to get a full report of the LV recruits from a LV perspective.
Yes Hayes won the mixed team shooting competition.

Yes Hayes won the mixed team shooting competition.

Can you elaborate on what is the "the mixed team shooting competition" ? Is it 3 pt shooting or a mix of different shots etc?

I'll watch but instead of merely scoring I'll be looking for ball-handling, passing and defense. But I won't take too much from their performances, one way or the other.

I recall watching Stewie play in this game. Her performance was underwhelming, to say the least and look what happened after Geno got his hands on her.

Its a skills competition. I didn't see it just a tweet.

So you know who to look for, Coombs is wearing #1 and Walker is wearing #3.

I thought we got the LV perspective on these recruits already. This class was going to take the Lady Vols back to the FF right?:eek:

IIRC from past years, mixed shooting is mixing of the sexes. Male/female teams.

For some fans it's the first time seeing the players. For the team they like.

Yes. Mixed being boys/girls was not the issue. That was obvious, I wanted to know more about the type of shooting. I have no idea what "IIRC" is. Thanks

Does it involve any passing? ;) Every year I try to watch this game and every year I bail, since more often than not it reminds me of a pre-teen club team soccer match. So now I tape it and fast forward to an interesting spot or sideline interview.

If I Recall Correctly IIRC

Mixed skills was a a layup, free throw, and half court shot. It's part of the legends and stars.
It was a girl star, boy star, and legend. Team event. I think Hayes was on Jayne Appels team.

It was a part of Powerade Jam. It's on ESPN Watch App.

Worth checking out.

Chastity Patterson Texas won the three point contest.

Just curious. Someone posted the Hoopgurlz ranking of high school prospects for the 2013 class, which showed how badly they had evaluated the talent. I wonder how that 2013 class and other classes looked in the McDonald's All-American game? Did the two dozen kids selected by McD turn out to be the better players in the class? Did they select the real top talent, as compared with what Hoopgurlz claimed were the best? Did the kids performing well in that McD AA game turn out to be the top players in college?

Just curious....

Thanks for the clarification.

I'm leaving work early and heading over there later today!

I always want to go but the girls' game starts so early. Hard to take off 2 hours of work on a random Wednesday just to see a basketball game.

Naturally, I'll be looking forward to seeing Danielle Patterson. Haven't seen that many clips of her yet, so this will be fun.

2013 McDonald's All American rosters (HG ranking in parenthesis)
East
Lindsay Allen (25)
Makayla Epps (37)
Kaela Davis (2)
Lexie Brown (15)
Diamond DeShields (3)
Ieshia Small (19)
Taya Reimer (4)
Nia Coffey (24)
Ronni Williams (13)
Stephanie Mavunga (23)
Kai James (22)
Alaina Coates (28)

West
Jessica Washington (14)
Kelsey Plum (26)
Tyler Scaife (9)
Rebekah Dahlman (16)
Linnae Harper (5)
Rebecca Greenwell (6)
Jordan Reynolds (42)
Oderah Chidom (10)
Erica McCall (11)
Kailee Johnson (20)
Mercedes Russell (1)
Kendall Cooper (12)

McD's is theoretically the 24 best players (plus or minus some fudging for positional balance) and they did have Epps, Plum, Coates, and Allen on the rosters. All outside the HG top 24 but ultimately very good college players. The HG top-24 players not on the McD's roster were - Allisha Gray, Jannah Tucker, Jessica Jackson, Raigyne Moncrief, Marques Webb. So yes, it looks like the McD's selectors did a better job evaluating talent than HG did that year.

For what it's worth, the West crushed the East that year. I believe Russell was the MVP.
