Just saw the jersey number announcement for the 2025-2026 newcomers, and it got me thinking. When a UConn player gets inducted to the Naismith HOF, traditionally the player’s number gets retired. Will Morgan have to give up her #23 when Maya gets inducted in September? (Q was using Sue’s #10, but that is no longer an issue).

As far as I know, #10 is not being used now since Q has left, and pretty sure #23 is also not being used. That means those numbers will never be used again, thinking the ceremony should be this or next year. The sooner the better so I can see it. So here’s the thing. There’s a limited amount of numbers that can be used on basketball jerseys: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, and any combination of 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 & 5 so that referees can signal foul calls with their hands.
