COACHES here is THE #1 LEADER in steals per game at Session 1 of
NikeGirlsEYBL

#1. Jordan Speller, 5’6 CO2027- 3.6 spg Jordan put on quite the defensive clinic in weekend 1 to get herself the most steals out of anyone on the circuit so far, and doing so as a Freshman. And this is no fluke either, as she averaged 3.8 spg during her high school season. She takes her defensive prowess very seriously. She’s one of those players that takes it extremely personally when she gets scored on, almost committing the rest of her effort to not allowing that again. Not only does she have some of the best hands on the circuit, but she’s also the biggest defensive pest on the perimeter. Jordan is someone that just seems to have a knack for getting their hands on the ball. She is extremely quick laterally and has really good timing jumping into passing lanes. While it allows her to pick off passes and start fast breaks, her quickness also makes it so tough for girls to get by her on the perimeter. She gets a majority of her steals off of interceptions, and she rarely gets beat when going for the steal. She didn’t shoot it from outside, but is a pretty good finisher at the rim, and the ease at which she can get by defenders off of her first step as a freshman gives her a ton of potential to become a really good penetrator over the coming years. As a freshman, her already advanced passing lane anticipation will only get better, and with her high-level defensive mentality, she could quickly place herself as the premiere perimeter defender in her class.

Kaleena Smith, 5'6 CO2027- 8.2 apg

Kaleena is going to continue to take over high school basketball this summer, and when she gets there she has the firepower to take over the college basketball world too, even at 5'6. She can shoot it from 30+ feet with ease, has one of the best handles in the country, and is a full 3 assists higher than #2 on the leaderboard. There is literally nothing she can't do offensively. Coupled with a 20 ppg average (#2 on the circuit), Kaleena constantly has the entire defense worried about her, yet it never seems to matter. She makes the hard passes look easy, zipping it 40 feet cross-court on a dime or dishing it no-look to her roller. She averaged more assists per game (8.2) than she had TOTAL turnovers (7) for the tournament. Highlighted by a 34 and 14 performance in her final game of Session 1, Kaleena is capable of making magic like this happen every game. More extensive breakdowns to come on her throughout the summer, but here's a little heads up of how one of the most electrifying players in the country is doing after 5 games.

Maddyn Greenway, 5'8 CO2026- 20.6 ppg

Maddyn is as tough as they come in the high school ranks. She plays as hard and as tough as an NFL player, which makes sense as her father is former star linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings, Chad Greenway. She can score from all over, has the ability to go left, and is lights out from the line, going 24-27 (88.9%) on the weekend from the stripe. She plays at least 5 inches taller than her height. She is completeley fearless when attacking, taking it to the rim strong every time. She can score through contact, and is also good at drawing it which is why she shoots a lot of free throws. She made some really impressive acrobatic finishes. She's such a tough matchup because you can't even play the drive and play off her because she is more than capable of lighting it up from outside. But she plays so physical that nobody really wants to guard her anyway. With more to come on her throughout the summer, Maddyn has all the skill, speed, and toughness needed to stay at the top of this list.
