I think that UConn has friends in the B1G and the ACC....folks who, if these conferences expand, would push UConn's interests.

We might 'think' that we have friends, but we know that we have enemies (especially in the ACC).

Look at the bright side, USF doesn't know if it has either. Arguably, that is worse.

Uconn's issue as far as expansion is largely due to location. Connecticut is a bit off the beaten path for conferences like the BIG 12 or SEC, and will only this year become anywhere close to Big Ten territory--but is still very far from most of those schools. Also there aren't alot of recruits in that part of the country.

The ACC can't expand further because they are already the lowest paid league and all their media rights are held up through 2027. If they expand then they are just getting an equal share for the added team (maybe--they didn't get anything for UL from news reports) and then diluting bowl and ncaa money further. Plus they have to cater to ND's wishes now. They can only expand with someone ND approves of or lose the hope they have of ND becoming a member of the conference one day.

If UConn were to go on a successful run like Boise or TCU or Utah did a few years back with football then the prospects probably increase for the Huskies.

I think that one of the reasons that the Big 12 hasn't expanded is that, according to both their current and past Commissioner, only a couple of teams make it worth it to the media contract.

With the Big Ten renegotiating contracts, it might be the perfect time for the B1G to test the waters re value of expanding.

I think that the ACC is done unless things again get crazy.

What the current and previous BIG 12 commissioners have stated re: expansion in that conference is that only certain schools would bring greater than pro rata value, and they aren't going to expand to keep the bucket the same or dilute other revenues from the conference members such as bowl payouts and NCAA payouts.

The Big Ten is going to be negotiating contracts soon-it will be interesting to see if they make anymore moves. With reports of UMD's move there showing that Big Ten schools will bring in over $100 million more than ACC schools from the conference by 2020 some things could happen.

If the Big Ten moves then the BIG 12 will grow as well, and the SEC probably will move to 16 schools also.
