Is Solo at the 3 in this lineup?

Demary at the “3” for defensive purposes and playing the castle/jackson/McNeeley role as the second play setter. I feel like we’ve played 2 ball handlers for the last 3 years, it’s essential to our offense imo.

I don’t expect this to happen of course, given the newton comparisons from the staff for Demary, but I think Smith and Demary will share a solid amount of minutes together every game.

Love the player, love the fit. I don't know where he's ranked in this year's portal class, but I'd bet it's too low. High IQ, hard worker, excellent leader, fits the culture to a tee. No real weaknesses to his game besides the size (having him around to just to tutor the Georgia kid will be well worth it in and of itself).

And, not to generalize or imply that there's anything wrong with wanting to be paid, but this is not somebody you have to worry about coming here for the wrong reasons. He doesn't care at all about stats and will presumably arrive with a degree already in hand. As far as college basketball players go in 2025, he's about as altruistic and self-assured as it gets. Having that type of steadying presence around the team goes a long way.

Well this would be a 6’ player with all the right skills to play a significant role. Love Hass but this guy is clearly a more advanced offensive player at least from the highlight tape that was shared.

He has a cross over step back three that looks like he could get that anytime he wants. Not sure how many times he settled for that shot. But he also has a nice mid range and looks like he has figured out a way to finish at the rim.

Oh and he looks to be quick. I am not going to say explosive because he is no Boat but he has plus quickness and speed.

Mahaney had most of these qualities as well. Except the quick and fast part…..so that is always going to be in the back of my mind.

He looks like he would be a nice piece to our backcourt and I think if we add him now we have a solid backcourt. Much better than last year. Demary is a stud.

Some are saying Ball will get some votes or be an all American consideration. I agree if he keeps on improving in the areas that need work. Getting to the basket “can you develop” you off hand in one off season? He needs a better right hand. He was already improving his defense and his insane length should help him continue his improvement. He was already improving a becoming a better rebounder he needs to continue improving there. And finally his passing. Again he was improving so if that continues and he shoots threes like he can, I do think he can be a BEPOY candidate and garner some attention for all American.

My honest guess: he heard a scoop from a farce account like Rob Reinhart and is just relaying what he saw. Classic mistake for a venerable dude, but he's also in his 80s navigating Twitter. My parents are only in their 70s, but they know aplenty Nigerian princes.

My take is we are going to see more of this as they have an agreement in principle but they need to hammer out the details on the finance piece.

So as they go through that process the leaks start.
