Jalen is going to be sooo good next year. If we can land some nice complementary talent there is some serious "us against the world" mojo potential for next year. Or KO could be losing the team and we see even more transfers . Quite the pivot point we find ourselves at.

I'm not sure what's worse, the people who make war analogies and post Geno Auriemma motivational videos every time a kid leaves, or the ones who are adamant that we are recruiting "the wrong type of players."

Boat de-committed twice before he got here and nearly left every year he was at UConn. He actually left West Virginia because he didn't want to compete for minutes. DeAndre almost transferred after his freshman year. "Neils" almost turned pro in Germany. Shabazz thought about leaving when Calhoun retired and almost fought everyone on the team during the 2012 season.

The amount of romanticism that is assigned to college sports by this board is insufferable. Kids commit for themselves and they stay for themselves. It's always about yourself until the ball is tossed into the air in November. Then, suddenly you share a common goal with a dozen other guys and you become a family, not because you listened and took notes like a good little boy when coach was lecturing you on the value of teamwork when you were a kid, but because you need each other.

Kid is clearly leaving because of the Miller situation. That's his right, and it's not a decision that is more or any less arbitrary than others that have been made in the last month (if you want to criticize somebody, direct it towards the guy making millions who decided to fire his assistant coach).

Vital will probably come back because now there are minutes open for him. Adams will come back because he's not good enough to play in the NBA. Larrier will come back because he likes the Dairy bar or whatever other stupid reasons people have. They'll all be hailed as guys who "bleed blue" and it will be stupid but ultimately it won't matter because they'll be here and we'll love them because of it.

Here is my decree on this topic:

If you don't want to be here, don't let the door hit ya where the Good Lord split ya.

I think it was before that. VJ wants to play the 3 and MAL probably wants to go to a placewhere he can be the featured guard day 1

I think SE transferred more because he wants to develop and knows he has tons of work to do

I think two of these players, Vance and Mal, saw that they were being recruited over with the addition of Chillious and what he's hopefully bringing with him.

Almost everything in this post is completely spot on and I expect it to get 20 or so likes. Rodney, who is our current shining example of a loyal player left his hometown team because he wanted to play on the ball (which obviously never happened). How is that not selfish but Vance is? Vance and Steve both think they deserves more prominent roles and that is exactly what Rodney thought.

The only qualm - I don't buy the certitude that MAL is leaving because of Miller. Maybe a convenient excuse in my book. Its seems to me that there is a good chance something is brewing under the surface and we just don't know what. And, the team tanked this year, the program has some pretty terrible optics right now and AG is reclassifying as a FR. who should play above MAL.

Technically they weren't motivational videos....

Ok things are a bit alarming due to the timing of all of this news. But we will see how things work out with he new staff not just Chillious but Killings too after a full year.

We didn't lose Ray, Caron, Rudy, Kemba or anyone please remember that. I know they could all leave, I still bleed blue. The people who continue to crap on KO and the things happening hope you're not here when it all returns because you just don't deserve to be, it's that simple. No issues expressing concerns there has to be but calling us a mid major for good, we're never going to be a blue bold, we suck it's over - go away find another team please it's really pitiful to read.

One final like before baseball season starts and I hate you

I bet my arse Boehiem has been lurking behind the scenes, Cuse needs a pg in a bad way, especially one like MAL
I posted earlier that something shady is going on and one of them will probably go to cuse

Providence folks get their wish
We've moved on to Duke, you make your choices and you live with them. UConn is not letting him out of his commitment

I keep seeing people use the phrase "replaceable/irreplaceable". What is an irreplaceable player? Jalen? Well then we need to start planning for the loss of an irreplaceable player after the 2018 season because he is draft bound. Losses like this directly affect that future planning coaches are responsible for.

So in a way losses like this can become "irreplaceable" indirectly.
Hope he has a "Kemba like" off season and comes back on fire.

What could that possibly be that an incoming recruit would know about? Maybe Miller told him idk

You really don't think they're going to give him his release? Do you have anything at all to base that off of? I doubt the kid would go public with it if we said no lol

Agree with most of your post except blaming KO for firing Miller. Everyone has to do what's in their best interest. If KO felt that he had an opportunity to upgrade the program when Chillious became available he had to assess how to make room for him. It's like recruiting over a player when a better one can be recruited.

Fallout was going to happen when the season ended far worse than expected. KO took steps rightly or wrongly. It's TBD. Firing Miller was going to have negative affects. We got all excited when Chillious was hired. When he left Washington his recruits left because of his departure. And no one thought the same thing would happen to UConn when Miller was fired? People act shocked and are trying to create something bigger out of this than the most likely reason for players leaving is relationships and failed expectations created by a miserable season. Outside of the Vance thing that is.
