Didn’t see this article posted by anyone. Joe Lunardi comes out and gives a couple of backhanded compliments to UConn asserting that they’re gonna get knocked out in the second round. It should be great bulletin board material for the team.

How does someone predict a second round defeat in the ncaa tournament 1 game into the season….i know they need content but this is just silly
The same way they do Bracketology for the following season a week after the title game.

Stupid, click bait. Zero context. At least Greg actually watches the games, and knows more about college hoops than SuperJohn.

Love him or hate him, Jay Bilas is still a believer.

4. UConn

After back-to-back national championships, the UConn faithful and coach Dan Hurley expected nothing less in the 2024-25 season. Instead, the Huskies went 0-3 in the Maui Invitational and Hurley set a modern record for highest blood pressure while wearing a Hawaiian shirt. Still, UConn was outstanding at the end of the season, giving Florida everything it had in the NCAA tournament's second round before losing to the eventual national champion 77-75. This season's Huskies should keep Hurley's blood pressure within reasonable limits -- UConn is very talented and has another challenger for the Final Four. Alex Karaban, Solo Ball and Tarris Reed Jr. return better, and Silas Demary Jr. (Georgia) and 7-0 freshman big man Eric Reibe will be heavily relied upon. UConn is legit.

Lunardi is an absolute moron so this is excellent. His early year thoughts are never very good unless they are obvious. How he ever came the tournament guru is like the Wizard of Oz crap!

Oh, your evidence is Superjohn doesn't like him. From a cherry-picked comment from a cherry-picked thread relating to Bilas's criticism of Hurley. OK!

Nobody has a 100% approval rating. There's got to be 5,000 mentions of Bilas on this forum. Most people don't take potshots.

The guy's a Dukie who's always been positive about UConn. If you don't like him, that's your problem.

Not sure what's confusing. For a field where virtually every famous person is a lightning rod, one guy who's not particularly divisive is Jay Bilas. It's not like you said, "love him or hate him, but Nick Wright said X." Bilas has been consistently supportive of this program for decades and your evidence that people here don't like him is that a could people said he was moralizing when he answered a question about Hurley's (admittedly juvenile) on-court behavior. I hope that explains it!

Edit: Why so passive aggressive today?

The likelihood that SJU goes further than UConn in any tournament, ever, is effectively ZERO. I'd be curious how many times that has happened in the last 30 years. I'd put even odds on it being none. Last time it likely happened was when Mullins led them to the Final Four in 1985.

UPDATE: Turns out they didn't completely suck in the early 90s, when UConn was going to the NIT. But since 1998, UConn has WON the tournament (6) about the same number of times SJU has MADE the tournament (7).

Another way to look at it - in the last 50 years, again, UConn has WON the tournament about the same number of times SJU has had a better performance in the tournament than UConn
