LSU WBB 2025-2026

Good catch. I missed it.

Why was Flaujae so ineffective and why did Kim limit her minutes so much?
A média member asked Kim Mulkey during her post game press conference about an ankle injury affecting Flau’jae and resulting in limited minutes and zero points…

And how did Kim answer?

For someone that mentioned the box score

Love where Vandy is and job Shea has done, but wonder how they will fare going on against teams that employ a strategy to limit Blakes.

I am not a fan of Mulkey's scheduling, and always thought it was lame for WBB. This answer is also lame. Her team only lost by single digits twice the two tough SEC games. The SEC is the toughest conference IMO. She could play some other power-4 schools and they provide a challenge for her team. I bet if her team faced any type of adversity they would know their weaknesses and could've won these games. She doesn't have to schedule like Duke, but just put some type of competition. I guarantee that none of the LSU players have played in such lopsided games. Every team plays cupcakes, but not exclusively cupcakes. Even if she played a tough team and lost in the OOC, I bet that would pay dividends in the conference schedule with more wins. I hope the NCAA grills LSU with seeding depending on how the rest of their conference goes. Obviously they have every opportunity the get back into the top 5 because of the stacked SEC schedule. Mulkey just did her players zero favors for preparing for the SEC. I'm excited to continue watching though.

WRT LSU's conference schedule, there may not be any easy games for the rest of the season. Winable games? Absolutely. However, if the team is not prepared for the SEC grind, there may be some unexpected results. And, when the NCAAT seeding comes, that will shine through, especially if the non-con schedule is all less experienced teams and they have a mediocre con record.

There are definitely somewhat easy games on the SEC schedule.

That's definitely going to be a problem when they play Ole Miss, Texas, Kentucky (x2), and South Carolina. The Michigan game will be interesting as well. @ Tennessee might be a concern as well.

If LSU actually scheduled a mildly better ooc (which isn’t saying much) then they would have been much better prepare and likely would be 2-0 instead of 0-2

LSU also isn’t getting consistent production from its “experienced” players. Lay was a complete no show vs Kentucky. Flaujae disappeared in 4th quarter and then again completely vs Vandy. Scoring 0 points in 20 minutes of play is not acceptable at all for a potential first round pick, the body language itself is the worst part of this.

The best player is mikaylah Williams but it seems she doesn’t consistently lead or take over games when she should be.

I want to apologize to the WBB community here for posting something that sounded really good in my head, whilst suffering from a massive head cold (thanks g-kids!). Not even sure i'll take a second swing - maybe I was thinking that there are no guarantees for LSU wins based on how much they've gelled as of now, along with how many upsets in general have happened so far? Sheesh. Imma go back to sipping my tea and unclogging my brain.

I wonder about team cohesion and morale . Fulwiley’s up and down play is expected but Flaujae’s disappearance against Vandy shocked me. She seemed lethargic and uncaring and I consider(Ed) her to be the team leader. Mikayla is good but has never shown herself to be the team leader.

They have time to right the ship. The Texas game is huge for LSU. a 0-3 SEC start could beat their morale down worse but a win over a Top 4 team could restore their spirits.

I still fear facing Milaysia in Baton Rouge. I only hope she will be TOO fired up.

Won't matter if Flau'jae's checked out, Mikaylah still can't guard an octogenarian, and Kate Koval can't stay on the court for more than two minutes at a time.

Flaujae looks like she doesn’t even care about basketball anymore. And it wasn’t just Vanderbilt she just doesn’t look the same this season to me

There were a lot of pros & cons of her returning vs declaring for the draft last year. It seems that she wanted to improve upon some things before going pro, however this season hasn't panned out as of yet. I'm also wondering if there are some issues with the lack of teamwork, has it been harder for Fulwiley to adapt to the LSU framework, and if her time this summer doing non-hoop things affected her development? Regardless, I wish her well, as I do love her energy.

She should've gone pro last year, IMO.

I agree with you. She didn't get going in the Duke game until the second half and didn't match Tonie Morgan's tenacity in the Kentucky game.

Fulwiley is the player that FJ intentionally fouled before shoving Watkins and touching off the LSU-SCar brawl.

Possible that adding a usage heavy guard from an arch rival wasn't the best chemistry fit for the incumbent all conference SG. Jus' Speculating.

I think LSU is a legit top 10'ish team. Their 2 losses were to teams now in the top 10 and by a total combined 6 points. It's not like they were blown out.

I would not be surprised to see them lose to SC, Texas, and Oklahoma. Their big tests will come against Ole Miss and Tennessee - 2 teams in the top 20 at this time. For all the complaining about Mulkey's cupcakes, both games they lost were super close and winnable.

Not sure what's up with Flau'jae, but if she'd shown up vs. Vandy, LSU probably wins. Altho I was reading she has a swollen ankle so if she was injured at all, that could explain. LSU has a decent but short bench so any injuries could be problematic..

In this post-Georgia presser, Kim reports a "wow" comment by Fulwiley about her own defense. The video should start where the relevant question begins (11:57).
