Low/Mid-Major Conference Tourneys

That's a really slow clock start. Might have still been in time but I don't know
Yeah you're absolutely right. I think the clock was slow to be stopped after the Navy bucket too, looked like an extra .4 or .5 seconds came off

Yep, clock should've stopped at 4.1 and they stopped it at 3.6

Watching the socon semis right now uncg up big on Furman initially, Furman comes roaring back lead by their freshman pg alex Wilkins he is either scoring or setting up his teamates to score. 6'5 with handle and a J, able to get down hill and score at the rim. Was supposed to rs this year but coach said he was too damn good to ride the pine, might not be at Furman too long.problem is the kid is a stick. Needs to getvin the weight room

This is a disgrace.
This bracket turns my stomach when I see it every year. If you’re wondering why Gonzaga has won this tournament 600 years in a row, here’s your answer. This will be their last either way.

One of my favorite leagues and a potential beneficiary of an expanded tournament.

They would benefit by watching more 6-12 power conference teams get in ahead of them?

The gauntlet brackets are honestly college basketball perfection. If you're a small one-bid conference, you want to maximize the chances of your best team making the tournament and pulling an upset so it's good/deserved for them to play fewer games, and if a lower seed does manage to win, they'll do it in exciting fashion

.-.
Furman wins the socon as a 6 seed. Probably a 16 in the dance because of resume but the look like they can be dangerous. 5th tallest team in the country there big guy shoots 77% from the floor and the pg can take over and score 30.

I know the NCAA has no rules anymore, but still not entirely sure how/why Siena is going to the NCAA Tournament. They played 29 games this season with a player the NCAA declared ineligible

The wins he played in will eventually not count, but they qualified by winning the MAAC tournament without him, which only requires winning those 3 games. The rest of the games of the season are irrelevant.

The MAAC likely should have made them a worse seed, but that's up to them I guess.

I have not done the math but would Siena even have had enough wins to qualify for the MAAC tournament if the vacated wins were changed to losses? I know most teams get in but 2 or 3 miss the MAAC tournament.

Cornell is the first Ivy Madness host to participate since 2023 and the season series is tied up. I was at Yale for their 102-68 shellacking of Cornell, but we've got a lovely 11 AM matchup today in the semis:

Yale and Vermont both tip at 11, with men’s hockey having a critical do or die game at I think 1 and Trinity tipping off at 4. Need to remember to charge my back up cell phone battery before heading into NYC.

.-.
Yale is hosting their first ever NIT game on campus tonight. If I were in town, I’d be undoubtedly covering this game, but I’ve got a 7 PM lakeside sauna appt midway through my “forest bathing” trip pre-NCAA Tournament, but hopefully I’ve got enough wifi to stream at my glamp site.

A Yale loss and a Bradley win over Dayton means Yale would host another game on Thursday.
