Love Solo ball!

Haven’t had the first practice yet and already setting unrealistic expectations. I mean I hope he develops into one of the best/clutch NBA three point shooters of all-time also but dayum, that’s a bit of a leap in one summer. :)

If he can improve his finishing at the rim I don’t see him not being our top scorer next year.
He needs to develop a right hand. Literally cannot finish with his right.

Ray Allen as a junior averaged 23 points per game and was a first team All American. Surely you're not expecting anything close to that. Or are you?
We have a lot more offensive firepower maybe but Solo scoring 20 would surprise no one. Just looked it up, Solo was 14 and 41 %from 3. Ray soph year was 21 and 44% from 3.

I really like Solo and think he can be our best offensive player next year and be the leader of the team. Funny he did not mention he was working on his biggest weakness - defense.

He will also be the #1 defensive assignment for all our opponents. Getting him pen looks will be a priority. Hopefully Mullins will take some of that attention away from Solo.

If those are the expectations then I don't want to hear any complaints on here when he's "only" averaging 16 or 17 ppg. :)

Btw, last player at UConn to average over 20 ppg? Is it Caron Butler over 20 years ago?
Unfortunately, in this offense , its nearly impossible to avg 20+ points a game. The number of players who touch the ball on offense, it's so balanced that no one ever seems to get the consistent quantity of shots each game.
However, If Solo is gonna avg 17 ppg in this offense he is having a monster season IMO.

The argument for 20+ PPG is simple: he will have many more open looks because of Mullins, Reid, Jr., and Alex. That floor is going to be an ocean for him. Just 4-5 more attempts per game and he is there, at the high rate with which he scores. This kid can score the ball. And if he comes improved from last year, watch out.

Solo 14
Silas 12
Reed 12
Alex 12
Stew 8
Mullins 10
That’s a very conservative 68 points with almost no bench points added.

I see ya got 6 players but did say "almost". It's really a hedge b/c any day we'd see more Mullins than Stewart or Stewart than Mullins.

Malachi will definitely score some even if 4-5 as a backup; Furphy, Reibe will definitely add from the bench and Jayden should be able to chip in 6-8 this year. I would think if we score 80+ Solo could have a few 20+ nights.

But please, let's not look at any players average pts before Big East games.

He needs to learn to finish layups. He's already in the ballpark of what he needs to do from the perimeter, and he seemingly can get into the paint almost at will. He just blows the short shot too often.

Win, Lose, or Draw:

Win - bucket and the harm
Lose - miss bucket, no call
Draw - bucket w/ no call, or miss bucket but get the call

Too many players try for the Draw of just getting the call and wind up losing and sitting on the floor for 1-2 sec acting like they were stabbed. Diarra did this a few time and it seemed like getting the bucket was an after thought.

Solo at least looked like he wanted the win, but would up lose or draw on too many - but Soph to Junior rise he will likely improve on this to be a 3 level scorer for the NBA.

He also comes off as a humble, likeable guy. Easy to root for.
I would also add that he is patient. He easily could have whined and put himself in the portal after freshman year. But he realized that PT would open up for him this past season. I believe that this also helped retain Stewart and Ross. And others have compared his sweet shot to Ray and Chris Mullins. I am looking forward to his rising trajectory next season.
