Anyone informed the Louisville people that this one performance is something UConn has done routinely for decades?
Please explain?Are you delusional?
We went to the game and just got back home. I was not expecting Notre Dame to be blown-out and crushed from the game's start, but Jeff Walz and the Louisville Cardinals showed that they could take great advantage of a Notre Dame team that was ponderously slow by comparison.
The better team won so easily tonight that I don't expect Notre Dame to change its fortune in a rematch.
UCONN has allowed a team to shoot 50% once in about the last 500 games. I suspect Louisville will have a tougher time shooting 65% in Storrs than they did tonight, but I am certainly hoping for a great game by both teams.

As a matter of fact it was one of their best shooting games in their HISTORY. In 1988 they had a game where they shot .690. This wasn't too far off.
It is now very clear that Maybry is not a point guard and also cannot guard a chair, poor cocky attitude must anger her teammatesNotre Dame doesn't have to be bad for the Cards to be considered quite good...the two aren't mutually exclusive.
Both teams are very well coached and have very skilled guards. Yes, Notre Dame's roster has been depleted, but every single player on the Louisville squad played their hearts out, so they deserve the credit tonight.
Pointing the bear hurts from what I hear.
After such a dominant game, rumblings of the No. 1 ranking spread among the media before Walz entered the press conference.
When asked if they should be ranked No. 1, Walz had a simple response: No.
“Leave that to UConn,” Walz said. “You don’t want point the bear.”

I hope that Louisville leap frogs UConn for the #1 ranking. I am positive that Coach Auriemma would use that as motivation for the team.
heh heh...ya think Jeff Walz knows that too? I really look forward to watching Kia guarding Durr, assuming that's the matchup.

One of the things I noticed in last night’s ND-Lou game is that the Irish did a terrible job defending ball screens. Durr would either run her defender into a high ball screen and then pull up for an open jumper, or a slower ND post player would try to switch on Durr who would blow by her for a layup or short jumper.I beleive it will start out with Kia on Durr. But I would not be surprised if Geno pulled a switch and put Gabby on Durr. Now that would be fun!
I may be wrong but, I believe the poster was referring to the number of players who play. ND has seven available scholarship players and UCONN mostly plays seven scholarship players. So the depth is the same, not the talent level.

Seemed pretty obvious to me that's what the poster meant.perhaps you're right but when he/she said "we're not really any better roster-wise than ND" they should have said numerically....

Really simple conclusion. A ridiculous game for both teams. Forget it and move on for both teams. It was great for LVille and tuff for ND.
I have to admit--I like Notre Dame! Watching the second half --of ND -Lullyville--to me in a word was disgusting. ND is better than that--but not his ND--short of everything it needs in every category.
Muffet and Company I feel bad for them.\
Whether Louisville is this good--or a fluke--I tend to think this isn't a true fluke, not abortion. They have some fire power.
The question for me is: How will they compare to Uconn. My ignorant belief is they won't. Ignorant in that I don't know what I don't know.
that's why you're "Smarty Pants"
I’m actually hoping Louisville runs the table up until the matchup with UConn on Feb 12. Right now, I would suggest Louisville has only 2 games between now and then that will test them: a home game vs #13 FSU and on the road vs a good Syracuse team.I'm not sure who Louisville plays next but it wouldn't surprise me if they came back down to earth in the coming days
The real issue for me is how really good UConn is?
We have fine passers, terrific conditioning, some great defensive players and a whole lot of excellent shooters.
But somehow, the woman's game appears different this season.
Less athletically gifted and less well-coached teams don't just thrown in the towel; they compete. And what they lack in sophistication that make up in grit.
And our team, for all its skill and sophistication, may be soft.
Geno has expressed concern.
Gabby has expressed concern.
Fact 1. We're not really any better roster-wise than ND if coach doesn't trust his freshman and sophs.
Fact 2. ND was run off the court this evening and was completely gassed in the 2nd half. They stayed with us, much longer.
Maybe, none of this matters; that most games will be like the one before last.
But in the tourney; everyone will be playing their hardest.
I just worry that we're ripe to be taken.
And I'm sure Geno will remind his charges how thoroughly ND was demolished tonight and why.
