The guy is an outstanding college coach, pretty foolish to argue otherwise. He's got a ring, took 3 schools to the Final Four and has missed the 20 win total once at Louisville, his first year. That technical yesterday came at the perfect time.

I think where they've fallen short some years is by being too reliant on the 3 point shot, but this year's team has developed a little inside presence and penetrates better than previous teams. If Louisville fans don't want him, I think many of us here would be happy to have him in a year or two.

So, am I reading this right, that if Calipari leaves Kentucky, Pitino wants the job?

stay, don't stay, go, don't go, doesn't really matter to me. i actually think Pitino is a good coach and a good recruiter. maybe he's under achieved in the NCAA's, but i don't ever remember him putting a crap team on the court (like this year's Pitt and 'nova teams, and PC or Depaul in general). clearly he's not in the same class as JC, but who is? even IU at this point would love to have the "lack of success" L'ville has had in the past 10 years.

There is a lot less competency on message boards than there is in the coaching ranks.

Actually the competency is much higher. It's the standards that are much lower.
