He will help GSR, not aPR. Remember, with aPR, you get no extra credit for graduating. Graduating is no different than returning for your spring semester after the fall. Both count for only 1 point.
 
I don't see any possible downside to adding a kid that has been described like RJ has been. Would love to have him.
 
Everyone calm down, next year is whatever regardless of Drummond, tourney, rj, blah blah blah, aim for 13,we ain't going anywhere anyway... Point is to stabilize our program, which we can all see has already started.

Everyone here is long term fans, so let's take a step back from the here and now Kentucky mentality and take heart that from now on we will have a squeaky clean, academically sound, powerhouse basketball program...

I think that's where we're heading, thank you Calhoun for staying us thru to the next phase
 
With the situation UConn is in with regards to next season's post season ban we can only thank RJ and support him for coming in to help the team go forward. I love the description, "brutally physical".

What I meant was that he's essentially a guarantee to go 4-4 in APR points next year.

Agree completely. We cannot continue to play two guards who are 6' and 5'10 most of the game. Boat and Bazz are terrible together. This will allow us to have a deeper rotation, which allows these guys to expend more energy on D. Plus, he'll bring some much needed leadership and experience. He would be a great addition.

No downside here. Even if he doesn't play up to hopeful expectations, he's only here for a year. He' will help our APR, and will help a young Omar Calhoun, plus add size and strength to our backcourt.
He doesn't shoot the 3 well but can drive and score vs D-1 schools, and that's proven. Now the coaching staff can concentrate on developing Bradley, Wolf, Daniels, Olander and Roscoe. All things considered, this becomes a win win situation. Let's face it, top 30 kids aren't coming here this fall. Next fall will be a huge difference and Evans won't be taking up an available scolie in 2013.

He has already spent four years at Holy Cross and will get his degree next month. This way he gets a free master's degree. Also there have been many reports that he is one of a number of HC players who did not like Milan Brown. HC the past few years has been an incredibly underachieving team.

He was a junior last year, but got a medical redshirt. So that should mean it's his 3rd year of eligibility and we get him for 2 seasons, yes?

Why? For the reasons others previously cited, plus a year with Calhoun and UConn hoops can open up career opportunities in overseas hoops and a post-sports career.

No - he played eight games of what should have been his junior year and received a medical redshirt after being injured.

This is now his fourth year of eligibility, but fifth year on the clock.

i don't pretend to know what kind of scorer he is or how he will fit in, but in the past UCONN has recruited really athletic players who had difficulty putting the ball in the basket. then you look at fundamentally sound teams who start 5 players who are juniors and seniors and we struggle against them. i'm not opposed to a mix of guys who are sick athletes along with more guys who have high BB IQ's and who are great kids who bring something valuable to the team.

needless to day, if JC wants him it should be good enough for us. better to have kids wanting to come to the program than the other way around. the APR/NCAA mess and JC's "will he or won't he be back" issues have made it easy for other teams to recruit against us. one year of struggling won't kill the program and we still have a solid core.
