Based on the last few tweets from Kevin Duffy.

- Evans on attending UConn next year: "That's the plan"
- Says the tourny ban doesn't affect the decision, but he may re-evaluate if Calhoun retires

So this seems to be the player that Calhoun said we were close to adding, and the timing makes sense with Lamb leaving.

Welcome aboard, RJ!

Wow..........No offense to Evans but is this is where we are as a program now? A transfer from Holy Cross is our big signing? We have enough guards already, we need big men. Next year is going to be ugly. I can't express how angry I am at the NCAA for dismantling our program. It's absolutely disgusting.

Anybody got any more info on this guy?

He is willing to play for UConn and he would wear a UConn uniform. He's bright, he's graduated and he can not only spell APR, but he will help it.

Past that, it's not important (to me).

He's a big, physical, experienced guard. What's not to like?

You need to pop a valium before you post and not just because of this post.

Fishy has it right....plus I kinda like his game.....he's a bigger stronger guard who can play some man and get to the hole.....experienced smart and a hardworker, what's not to look forward to?

People poo pooing this are lame. The kid is big, smart, plays hard and has some skill. RJ will be better than most any freshman we would get. He will add experience and size to a small and shallow backcourt. I can see a lot of 3 guard lineups next year and RJ and Omar will provide much needed height. Great get considering all factors.

Welcome to the Huskies, but on closer inspection, I'm not sure how well he fits in. He's a scorer, but has pretty miserable 3pt% and FT% for a guard. Is he a really good defender at least? Has to be a slasher, right?

We are taking a flyer on a good kid who will be a one year player and will graduate. Plus, he's a local guy. If he is marginally better than Allen, its a great get.

Would you rather take a flyer on a high school kid?

He is a Pitt type of player. Tough as nails. He will be liked. Wait and see.

He's scored 1,000 points at a D1 school, will help out APR, and we get his scholarship back the following year. Also, there are hardly any impact recruits left and any that are left sure aren't picking Uconn. There is absolutely no downside here.

That's the right analysis. He may help us somewhat. He may help us at a few times during the season. And he may not help us at all. But as opposed to bringing in late a Trice or Smith who leaves a trail of academic destruction in their wake, there is no downside here.

Went back and watched a bit of the UConn-HC game and I'm perfectly fine bringing him on board for a year. With only Calhoun, Boatright, and Shabazz as of right now, he ads some much-needed depth to the guards and a veteran presence. He looks aggressive driving the ball and seems to be a pretty versatile defender, both of which are nice to have. And if all else fails and he is a total bust (which I doubt), he's still only here for one year and is better than taking on a mediocre HS recruit.

only partially true. there are over 300 transfers this year. we could still use that scholarship on a player who has more elligibility and will have more of an impact. only difference is they would have to redshirt a year..... from the looks of it, not that big of a deal.

Your right it is great that he will help are APR. Also he's a senior so even if he doesn't contribute that much on the court, he will still not hurt the team by taking up a scholarship for 4 years while he rides the pine. To be honest that was my biggest concern for this recruiting class; to not get any talent because of the ban and take anyone who can dribble a ball.
