Good size, but not too big. Hope to keep it in a well insulated garage.

Thoughts?

They are all the same. Measure your space and see what size fits and then order from HD or Lowes. Not sure what we did before we got the chest freezer.

Yeah, this should be pretty easy. Shouldn't have to spend above $150 to get plenty of freezer space.

Consumer Reports has the Insignia CZ70WH6 as a best buy for $150. I believe Insignia is a Best Buy in-house brand.

Join up your towns “free stuff” page on Facebook. I’ve had a free serviceable beer fridge in my garage for 20+ years.

I bought an upright from Sears I think for like $300. I had a chest freezer before but the stuff on the bottom never got used (laziness I know). Much prefer the upright. Sits in my garage.

Upright, and non self-defrosting if possible. Preserves food longer with less freezer burn. Downside is you need to defrost it twice per year.

Safe to put in an insulated but not heated garage?

Save to put in an insulated but not heated garage?

Mine has had no issues whatsoever. Winter is not the concern, summer is. You open that often on humid days and you will start to get a lot of frost build up inside. I have a second refrigerator (mostly beer, soda and waters) in the garage too with no problems.

It's a shame you aren't looking for a cooler, because I know the best in the business.

An article recently said there was a heavy run on freezers before isolations. Hope you can find what you need.

I've had uprights for 25 years in an unheated garage. Just got a new one when I moved. Never had any problems. Just defrost it 1-2 times a year. Keep a list in the house of what I have in it and how old the stuff is so I use the old stuff first. I have 3+ weeks of meals in it.

yeah, when I first saw the thread, I wondered how a state where you can't find chicken would still have freezers available. Even in PGH chest freezers are hard to come by.

It’s okay if you can’t afford it.

Considering how hard it is to buy meat anyways I’m not rushing out to get a freezer for a pound of a skin-on chicken breast and a bag of tofu meatballs
