Lockedonuconn guy pod- talking about his news

Seems anyone outside the Storrs Central banner who dares to share some crumbs with the fans breaking the sacred paywall gets aggressively attacked. Interesting.
I've been meaning to post this for the past week or so, after seeing people get mad at the other guy on twitter (forgive me for forgetting his handle) for sharing the "insider info" from Storrs Central. So I'll use this portion of your post as a springboard for what I've been meaning to put out there.

Has Storrs Central ever confirmed what percentage of your subscription goes to student athlete NIL at UConn? I've tried googling it and I can't find anything. I remember them stating they could not provide a firm number because things like server costs and what they pay writers per article fluctuate... OK... So can they provide even an estimated range? Is it 60-80% of your subscription that goes to NIL? 20-40%? Is it possibly even less than 20%?

I ask because as you noted, there are certain people who crap on anyone who dares to share the information behind their paywall with the general public for "hurting UConn NIL." But in all seriousness, if only $12 of your $120 yearly subscription goes to UConn NIL, are they helping or hurting UConn NIL? Even if it's 2-3x that, one could easily cut the university a $100 check each year, write a letter stating it is for student athlete NIL funds and have done more for the university while still saving themselves 20 bucks. Keep in mind, most of their "insider info" used to be posted on here for free 3-4 years ago.

I've just always hated the lack of transparency, it has felt suspicious to me since day 1. Even when I read the verbiage on their "direct contributions" page there is nothing that states 100% of what you're contributing will go to NIL. It's just implied.

If someone can provide some firm info on what % they're giving to UConn NIL and it is substantial I will gladly retract the above statement and feel more at ease.

I'm a subscriber. I would like to know, too.

Props to Matt Schonvisky!

I've known it was happening since Thursday when I posted I had a very good source saying Braylon was coming back. I've never once claimed to be an "insider" in all my years here but in this case I had a source. I don't think I was the only one on here who knew but kept quiet on it being done deal.

Iirc Storrs Central gives all net revenue to UConn for NIL. The subscriber revenue is a small piece of their fundraising. They have corporate sponsorships, collectibles, and branded products. Its much more than just "insider info" though that is a big attraction.

What do you know about Solo ?

Thank you for the info. Can you provide a link or anything firm on this though? I've just never seen anything despite genuinely searching.

What are the other big attractions in your eyes?

Nice job, Matt.

He won’t take a victory lap but he should.

I believe him when he says he’s doing this because he thinks that the teams deserve better coverage. I think that’s all there is to it.

He’s a diehard. I’d be shocked if he makes dime off this venture.

His source was good but his delivery is not. Just not interesting to listen to. Painfully slow to his point. I realize it must be hard to fill time. Having a co-host or guest might help.

Who the hell cares? He got us definite news on Mullins before anyone so he obviously has sources and that’s a good thing. Don’t listen to his podcast if you don’t like his style but the Mullins things was a big deal and he got bashed by a fair number of posters here. I’m actually wondering something now. Were they the same ones who insisted Mullins had ZERO chance of returning this season? That didn’t age well did it? We have been reading that garbage since the start of the season from our NBA EXPERTS here.

Funny about all the in fighting - all mentioned in these posts are fans of this institution. We live in a different age now with NIL and breaking news is a job. I fully expect Solo back and competing / starting at SG.

Lmao. Sorry for asking a pertinent question champ
If you think they're ripping you off, stop giving them money. Me, I have no reason to believe they are anything but on the level. If I'm wrong, I've blown 100 bucks on worse.

Well obviously you don't care about whether Matt's content is entertaining but he should care because even if he is right, he is insufferable to listen to. Maybe he should stick to beat writing rather than pod casting. Or maybe he will improve. I made a suggestion that he have a co-host or guests. It might make it more interesting to listen to.

I don't find him insufferable. He's pretty new to the podcast thing and improving. I thought his live show on Friday night was pretty good.

He has a regular full-time job and 3 young kids (he mentioned on the pod) and he's still manages to put the podcast out regularly and with good information because he loves UConn....so I'm a fan.

Lots of haters I guess, jealous he got the jump on them.
One thing I’d like to mention. This has been a helluva day for UConn basketball, a momentous week in fact. What Hurley has done is make our lives fun all the way to the first tip off. We can now speculate and guess on lineups, argue with and insult each other about what’s going to happen and how we are a top 5 team with a chance for a natty. And this is BEFORE Hurley puts the finishing touches on this masterpiece.
For
me I’m going to have an ice cold beer or two close my eyes and smile for awhile because I’m not worried about who is getting who. We have a nice arsenal to work with.

The guy is a content creator. Unlike you, it's in his interest to break news.

And about the same number of people had a great source that he was gone.

I don't know if it was just me, but I assumed that Locked On was still Zanetto (who had that Big 12 debacle a couple years back) that's why I didn't trust the info coming out. Now that I've realized it's a new guy entirely and he seems to have legit sources, I'll be a lot more confident in any info that comes out from him and Locked On in the future.

Well his show has sponsors like Indeed job search as an example so he likely makes something…good on him and nice job making these important calls early!

You entirely missed the point. Probably because it was too long for you to read
