I've been meaning to post this for the past week or so, after seeing people get mad at the other guy on twitter (forgive me for forgetting his handle) for sharing the "insider info" from Storrs Central. So I'll use this portion of your post as a springboard for what I've been meaning to put out there.Seems anyone outside the Storrs Central banner who dares to share some crumbs with the fans breaking the sacred paywall gets aggressively attacked. Interesting.
Has Storrs Central ever confirmed what percentage of your subscription goes to student athlete NIL at UConn? I've tried googling it and I can't find anything. I remember them stating they could not provide a firm number because things like server costs and what they pay writers per article fluctuate... OK... So can they provide even an estimated range? Is it 60-80% of your subscription that goes to NIL? 20-40%? Is it possibly even less than 20%?
I ask because as you noted, there are certain people who crap on anyone who dares to share the information behind their paywall with the general public for "hurting UConn NIL." But in all seriousness, if only $12 of your $120 yearly subscription goes to UConn NIL, are they helping or hurting UConn NIL? Even if it's 2-3x that, one could easily cut the university a $100 check each year, write a letter stating it is for student athlete NIL funds and have done more for the university while still saving themselves 20 bucks. Keep in mind, most of their "insider info" used to be posted on here for free 3-4 years ago.
I've just always hated the lack of transparency, it has felt suspicious to me since day 1. Even when I read the verbiage on their "direct contributions" page there is nothing that states 100% of what you're contributing will go to NIL. It's just implied.
If someone can provide some firm info on what % they're giving to UConn NIL and it is substantial I will gladly retract the above statement and feel more at ease.
