Lockedonuconn guy pod- talking about his news

Locked On Guy is 1 for 1 now. If he gets Braylon right the crow eating starts right on this thread. People here don’t like to admit they are wrong ever. But the important thing is that we got him!
2 for 2. He also said Stewart was transferring.

But he also said Freeman was still visiting Friday and going to commit. Pretty sure the visit didn’t happen.

He prob has some info. And prob reading some tea leaves.

And prob has a subscription to StorrsCentral. Or has a friend/contact who sends him all the info from StorrsCentral.

We don’t know what he knows. But I do know he’s been reporting on UConn years before Storrs Central existed. Going to campus and interviewing coaches, players and the AD. I’m sure he has his own connections.

I don’t know the guy personally. I only know what he’s posted here and on twitter for year over years has always been pro UConn. Pretty crappy that some of us are going scorched earth negative.

Doesn’t have to be all or nothing.

Some of the “insiders” here have their panties in a bunch and feel threatened for some reason. It’s a beautiful day for UConn men’s basketball. This was a top 15 five star with the pedigree from his dad who played overseas.

I’m saying Braylon is back. So I want the credit too when it happens.

This is asinine

As we're all waiting in anticipation of the Mullins decision, Locked On has been spot on. You either like to be in the know or you don't. The guys sources are holding up and this is just part of the job. Break the news before others. I can understand someone doesn't like media breaking the news before the individual, okay. But calling the guy an idiot - your statement is not aging well.

I sit in traffic the majority of my workdays through the week, so I listen to as many UConn content podcasts as I can. As much as I appreciate the Locked On pod for existing and producing only UConn content, I really can't get into the current host for his lack of actual basketball analysis. If Matt reads these comments, my criticism is this: he reads stat lines and says things we all already know. "Tarris had 1 rebound. If we want to win, he needs to rebound more". Maybe that's the Locked On brand, more for everyday listening, but I want more insight into matchups or how the staff chose the game plan. Or talk to coaches and get their take. I'll be listening next year either way, I jus hope he grows the channel into something that doesn't leave me wanting more.

You going to give me credit for my forecast when I am equally accurate?

You have a sports podcast calling Braylon coming back 100%? He was the only one. We’ll see if he’s right. If he’s right on this he gets the glory. And those who called him wrong and a jerk need to step up and admit it.

Btw -- the Field of 68 "live show" posted when the Khamenia commitment was announced was recorded yesterday (or earlier) as it didn't include Stewie transferring.

The news is out there. Decent human beings wait for it to be made official before going public with it.

Idk if he has real information or not but so far everything he’s said would’ve been handicapped at like 80-90% likely to happen other than Stewart which was probably like 60-70%

Are you not a fan of Adam Schefter? He breaks the news before it's official and his sources are crazy. Same thing is happening here.

Maybe my timelines are off - wasn't the official Khamenia commitment posted today. Wasn't the Stewart transfer news official yesterday?

"The news is out there. Decent human beings wait for it to be made official before going public with it." If my timelines are off then I'm wrong but 68 cant say Khamenia is committed to UConn and waiting for news on Stewart.

I appreciate any UCONN content during the off season. However I listen knowing that the news is mostly speculation based on sources which are unreliable. I do recall the UCONN to Big 12 confirmation and Tarris Reed to the transfer portal last summer reports as total misses.

I would not get too excited based on any podcast reports until news has been officially released.

Adam Schefter is an utter scumbag.

The Field of 68 people pre-recorded the show on the Khamenia commitment. Apparently he was unaware of Stewart transferring.

He also has to stop using the staccato delivery. It is a technique that should be used rarely for dramatic effect. Not as a constant style. To me it is unlistenable

These feel more like educated guesses than true insider reporting. Anyone who’s been paying attention, and has a Storrs Central subscription, could’ve connected the same dots.

The issue isn’t speculation itself, it’s presenting speculation as if it’s coming from well-sourced, verified information. That’s a different standard than what actual journalists are held to.

And when you frame it that way, it starts to look more like clout chasing than reporting. There’s very little downside if it’s wrong, which makes the approach easy to repeat. We’ve seen that before, like with Zanetto’s ‘imminent’ Big 12 invitation that never materialized.

Thought the backlash was a bit over the top. He’s a content creator - of course he’s chasing attention to grow his platform. As long as he’s not leaking information he was trusted to keep private, I’m fine with him breaking the news early.
