Francisco Lindor just passed Derek Jeter on the all time HR list for SS.

Lindor did it in just 1,433 games while it took Jeter almost twice as long in 2,744 games.

He is now 4th on the all time list behind Cal Ripken Jr. (431), Miguel Tejada (307), and Hanley Ramirez (271). At 31 years old, Lindor would need approximately 6 more seasons (barring injury) to surpass Ripken.

(In before someone mentions World Series rings....that's a team accomplishment, obviously.)

Jeter wasn't a power hitter, he whoops him in everything else.

.-.
Come on anyone can be 6th all time in career hits.
Sure. And Eddie Murray has 3,200 and is 14th all time and no one would list him in their top 15-20 first baseman ever.

Can you name ten that you believe you can win an argument as being better than Murray? I'm not sure there were.

Additionally, more is expected offensively from a first baseman than from a shortstop.

So what.

Will Lindor get 3,000 + hits in his career? Will Lindor hit.300+ for his career? How about 5 world series rings.

In no particular order...
  1. Pujols
  2. Gehrig
  3. Miguel Cabrera
  4. McCovey
  5. Musial
  6. Jimmie Foxx
  7. Frank Thomas
  8. Killebrew
  9. Thome
  10. McGwire

In no particular order...
  1. Pujols - agreed
  2. Gehrig - without question
  3. Miguel Cabrera - most likely but close
  4. McCovey - agreed
  5. Musial - spent 75% of his career in RF
  6. Jimmie Foxx - agreed
  7. Frank Thomas - debatable at best. Also a Designated Hitter.
  8. Killebrew - Debatable, also 40% a 3B
  9. Thome - LOL, not a chance
  10. McGwire - strongly disagree

You said to name 10. I didn't have to think for those 10....and I don't need to you agree with them. If you say you'd rather face any one of them over Eddie Murray, I'd call you a liar.

After the age of 28, Murray topped 30 HRs twice (30 and 31), 100 RBI twice (100 and 124) and never in his entire career had more than 180 hits in a season. The poster boy for average output and longevity.

To me, what has always separated Jeter from many other great shortstops was his playoff performance. He played practically an entire season (158 games) of playoff games and hit .308 with 20 home runs. So against the best teams with the best pitchers in the biggest games of the year, he played at the same high level.

I didn't wanna be cruel but I couldn't resist.

A-Rod hit 260 HRs in well under 1,000 games and about 26 years old.

You're not cruel. You just didn't read the 3 or 4 posts outlining that World Series rings are team accomplishments. But thanks for being a typical Yankee fan.

I just brought up 2000, oh we can’t talk about that I don’t blame you, it’s gotta sting still. Jeter’s .409 World Series BA doesn’t count because it’s a team accomplishment right. The Mets had the better team that year but but but team accomplishment.

That’s pretty impressive how many words you put in my mouth there.

Reread the original post, bud. Lindor passed Jeter in HRs by a SS. That’s all I’ve said here. I’m not sure why you insecure Yankee fans can’t accept that one fact.

Typical Mets fan: you go through tremendous effort to elevate the mediocre. Impressive intellect that you lack there, are you naturally stupid or is it a trait you've acquired and honed to the dull edge we all see?

I’m not elevating anything.

It’s 5th grade math. 261>260. Not sure why you’re making it into more than that.

If that’s it…why post it. You know why…and you got exactly the reaction you wanted.

I am just disappointed that Yankee fans took the troll bait.

Well, that's your assumption. Lots of Mets fans on the board too. And non-NY fans. If the insecure Yankee fans took it so personally and were butthurt that's their problem. I qualified in Post #1 this wasn't a rings discussion and they couldn't stop veering directly down that path. Again, not my issue.

You specifically said not to bring up rings I didn't do that. The 2000 World Series is a ring, not rings. Just brought up Jeters .409 ba in the World Series, I'm sure that's not a team accomplishment.

You're moving the goal posts, funny to see you playing the victim now after trolling. Congrats to Lindor on passing Jeter on the hr list cool, no one's happier then you so enjoy.

Nice stat.
I love a good trolling, but God, Deep. The Captain? He should be off-limits.
Next up: Alonso > Mattingly?

Who the hell is butthurt?

You're evidently trying to claim some superiority for your team because of one very narrow criteria for one position on the field. Congrats, I imagine it allows you to sleep better at night.

I "claim" nothing. I stated a numerical fact and an individual achievement by Lindor.

I'm not sure how many times I can try to keep you all from pulling this back to team achievement.

Let me ask you and others. Would you not think it's a great achievement if Lindor stays on track and becomes the all time HR leader at the SS position? In 150+ years of the sport?
