Less time on the boneyard in the future

I moved to Tennessee 5 years ago and this year i finally decided that I’m going to start rooting for UT football. But now, after this post, I’m going to have to strongly reconsider that decision.
My son lives in Knoxville and says the UT hoop fans admit they are no match for us and greatly respect our program.

JMO but you're welcome here. I think it does make more sense to root for OSU in both sports first if that's the school you're rooting for in football. But that doesn't mean UConn can't be a school you follow and appreciate on the side.
I think that’s what I’m going to do. I really appreciate this comminity!

Thank you for reconsidering. You had me scared with all this leaving talk.
I got the first bjc42 frowny face in history.

Sayonara Amigo. I’ll post more to make up for your absence. You’re welcome everyone.

@bjc42, I suggest you do a dive into youtube and watch our previous Final Fours to increase your appreciation of our beloved Huskies. Watch the Stanley Robinson dunk compilation. That is a good starter set. You will get a better idea of why we are crazy about our team and its history. Watch Jim Calhouns "not a dime back" press conference. Search for Dan Hurley saying "you better get us now because we're coming" presser. I promise that you will never stray again!

I really appreciate this post. I watched part of the video in the ”need to kill an hour” thread and the Hurley conference came up and that made me want to stay. Why leave the best program in all of basketball?

Off topic but sorta on topic - A friend of mine from high school was a Lakers fan, a Cubs fan, a Broncos fan, a Syracuse basketball fan, and a Miami Hurricanes football fan.

I dare you to find a weirder combo of sports fandom example…

'Is he one of those guys who has multiple families across the country and nobody finds out until the kids are in high school?

Just wanted to let you guys know that I’m probably not going to be liking as many messages in the future. I know this sounds like something bad is going on, but it’s not that. Basically, I have been an Ohio state football fan for a while now and kind of felt bad that I chose two different schools. I have connections to Ohio State, but can’t say the same thing about UConn. I just hopped on the bandwagon this past year. All of this is to say that I am going to be more of an Ohio State basketball fan so I won’t be in the forum as much. I am still going to root for the huskies, but they’re not going to be my team. Thank you guys for welcoming me on the board, and I’ll be stopping by every once in a while when a recruit commits, for example.
Good Luck!

I can validate that. I have coworkers from TN and they are envious of us. I kind of feel that way about their football program.

I appreciate your courage coming out as an Ohio State Fan. Given their propensity to choke in the Big Ones lately .
i have a few Buckeye fans on my street including the guy next door who will fly the OSU colors every weekend . I had to talk him down after the Michigan game last year but he is better now .
Thank you for your interest in UConn basketball

Still like the huskies but I can’t justify rooting for two schools as my top teams.
I feel attacked! Yet I manage it by having a clear 1A 1B that never waivers.

UConn Basketball is your Friday night goomar

give Jay Burson and Scoonie Penn our regards

It's hard to take someone seriously when they jump on the bandwagon in the midst of a two year national championship run. As someone pointed out; everyone does need to become a fan at some point and it's usually during the good times and he pointed to all of the Cowboys and Steelers fans that grew up in their haydays.

But for those of us that suffered through the end of the Perno years and then got a small taste of the glory in the Dream Season and then waited 9 long years to get to the mountaintop with a lot of heartache along the way. It's a lot sweeter.
