Yeah you’re right. Now that I have spent time rooting for UConn I just can’t go back on my decision to start rooting for them. It may not have been the best way to be a fan initially, but I need to stick with it now. Thanks for the reply.
 
With all due respect it's just a message board and not everything that comes from your brain needs to be posted. By the way that goes for most threads not just this one.

Don't worry bjc, as a UConn guy I have long had to adopt college football teams as UConn decided not to participate in the sport. You backed the right horse -- there is little sense backing off now.

Casual fan you are. Many parents have had 2 children playing for different schools, rooting for both.

We would never tell Ohio State fans of your secret admiration. In fact OSU fans have been secret admirers of us since 1999 in St. Petersburg where the UConn dynasty was born.

At least we know you've proven you like what you see here and we are irresistible.

Well congratulations. My Dad couldn’t care less about sports and I grew up in the 90s in a state split between two cities sports teams. Guess I should have just not watched sports. Or like many kids who grew up in the 90s I became a huge Yankees fan and a casual Cowboys fan. I’m not a big football fan now anyways but I won’t apologize for being a “front runner” as a 6 year old. Why do you think there are so many grown Cowboys fans all over the country? It’s not because they all moved from Dallas. How people choose the things they like or support isn’t really anyone else’s business to judge.

In my opinion there's no issue with who you choose as a kid. Once you're older than 10 or 11 though switching teams that you root for is extremely lame.

I'm a born and bred Buckeye as well. I have total loyalty to the Buckeye Football team, but after 9 years in CT, specifically 1988-97 and witnessing the dream season I'm all in with Husky basketball.

You DO know that football only has 11 minutes of actual action on average vs 40 minutes of sheer feverish delirium watching the Huskies?

I grew up in Central CT. As a child in the 50's and early 60's in major sports that I participated in (baseball and basketball) there was the Boston Celtics and New York Yankees who were out of this world great franchises and teams. In fact, to this day you could say Legendary. It never occurred to me or many of my friends (OK there were a few Sox fans) that there was any conflict with the fact that they were from two different cities. They were the living embodiment of excellence. And excellence includes winning. Uconn basketball (men and women) have now become that standard bearer because they are bringing it big time. Because they (coaches and players) demand excellence in themselves and their teams and that is the culture. And that culture and standard almost always brings winning at another level.

So I get where the man is coming from. Watch the opening speech in Patton with George C Scott. It's part of our DNA.
