i don't like this argument cause it requires me bashing vital. love the kid. but he was a solid 6th man on a 16-17 team. he will continue to get better and will be/is a hell of a guard for us. but alterique has star power. he showed it in the minimal time he played last year. was a mcdonalds AA for a reason. but you are right, proof is in the pudding and CV got more pudding right now. potential is just potential. i just really feel like our only shot at being march-relevant next year is if jalen, alterique, and larrier are bonifide, first team conference-esque studs. plus 2 point guards seems to work for us..

Two point guards is the key, there's no substitute for ballhandling and passing. If you have that then any of the 5 players can become a threat. Everybody's shooting percentage gets elevated. CV's 3 pt shooting percentage isn't likely to be so much higher than AG's that it makes up for the way AG will elevate everybody else's shooting percentage.

Assuming they want to (can't see why they wouldn't) AG and MD will qualify as redshirts.
True, I wouldn't worry about it though. So many what ifs. If we get back to how we used to recruit, scholarships won't be an issue.

Even @Chief00 has to admit he'll enjoy first night with this kid throwing down.

I like his jumping and energy - I am big on assists to turnovers and he is just slightly better than Brimah at 0.29, which means a lot of unforced turnovers and he needs to improve his mental approach to the game.

His foul shooting is at 53%, which means he hasn't worked hard enough in the gym.

But, I do like the way he jumps - he is a quick powerful jumper. And more importantly is that he knows how to patiently create space for himself with his body , primarily his backside. We haven't had a guy do that in a long time.

Another positive is that Admissions probably fell at the sword - a good sign for future recruiting.

Nice to add balance to the classes. We now have what, 3 sophomores, 2 juniors, 1 senior and 6 freshman?

Have to love the frame and athleticism. All he needs to do is catch and dunk. The former may be in dispute based on some of that tape but we shall see.
2 Seniors(DO and AA).

>>"I wasn't really thinking about the American [Athletic Conference]. I was really set on the Pac-12 or the ACC," Williams said Sunday from Anchorage. "And then I got a phone call from Kevin Ollie. The conversation we had, had me leaning toward UConn by the end of the conversation. The relationship we would have, the things he pointed out, I didn't have any other conversation like that with any other high major coach. Kevin Ollie wasn't beating around the bush, didn't give me any kind of fluff. He was straightforward, and I really appreciate him for that. The relationship we're going to have made the decision for me."<<

That's the KO I remember on the recruiting trail from last year. Very nice to hear all the great things we know about him still resonate and that's big considering this as an example of what he has to overcome with every recruit i.e. conference.

Vital will be one of our 4 most productive players.

What's your point? My post was about who likely starts. Vital could be one of our 4 most productive players coming off the bench.

I like his timing on the putbacks. Happens to be an area we could use a guy who likes to operate. Needs some work but up to him how far he takes it and gels with the team. Could see some spot or late game duty this year and will be great for our depth.

Dude's 15 minutes might be up after he lost his dunk show and then went after Shaq and Kenny Smith.

Yeah he's dumb. But kid can throw down.
