Peters does about zip on offense without feeds; and yeah, for the top tier of teams, Peters is "average" at best.Peters played in the best conference and was all-conference and 2-time DPOY. That is clearly not average. Dev was instrumental in their success this year.
With her athletic ability she should be.Kiah is a killer, great game. Tough kid, really learned a lot.
Once again....Peters is a very average post on a very, very good passing team. Rarely, if ever, does Peters face a double-team.
You guys are making excuses, and I'm trying to get a handle on "why".
Seems I recall Dolson was a "freshman post", and a chunky one at that??
Geno wondered out loud in the postgame if the game was "too big" for some of his kids and that led to them doing stuff he hadn't seen in a long time.
Peters is not an average post. She is solid. She was the Big East Defensive player of the year. She is not Griner who is once in a generation player. Your view here is completely bogus as Milford has pointed out.Once again....Peters is a very average post on a very, very good passing team. Rarely, if ever, does Peters face a double-team.
You guys are making excuses, and I'm trying to get a handle on "why".

I don't troll.You're clearly trolling.. Have a nice day
Well, so much to address...If you can't be objective, both positive and negative, I can't help you much there.
I'll make another statement you won't like:
Getting caught up in self-hype by the fans is a sure way to go the way of Tennessee Women's basketball over the last four years.
Fan's make excuses for their favorite players, coaches start throwing players under the bus, get complacent in recruiting, on and on....
UConn is not going that path; it can, if that's what you want.
Now YOU get off MY back and answer why that is at the end of a near-40 game season by the top basketball program year in and year out in modern women's basketball.
THAT is my case.
Well, so much to address...
Secondly, what the fans ramble on about - minutes/hours after a loss, mind you - has zero affect on the team. We'd love to have that much influence but, alas, it's Geno that runs the show, not us.
seriously? wow. it's been a while since i saw a real maroon on the board.Okay, seriously, this is UConn basketball at the end of the season, and you're saying this??
What I'm seeing is the UConn guards REALLY hesitate to feed her the ball...and the entire UConn offense wilts.
Look, I follow more than one team...and if should be getting more out of a Mickey D's all-american at this stage of the season.
really?? Not a single freshmen in the USa??seriously? wow. it's been a while since i saw a real maroon on the board.
Brianna Banks was a HS AA as well. she played in one of the AA games, but not the other. and she dind't get any playing time in the final 4 game.
Aside from KML and E Williams, not a single freshman recruit averaged anywhere near 10 PPG or had a "huge" impact. Morgan Jones, from Northwestern, was probably the 3rd best freshman. Massengale started most of her games at Tennessee and couldn't even reach 8 PPG. Bria Smith started all 32 games for L'ville and averaged 9 PPG. Logic started all 31 games for Iowa and averaged 9 PPG.
other than that, not a single player had better numbers than Kiah if you extrapolate production per minute played. Forthan, Canty, Laney, Burdick, Hartman, Hammond, etc etc. were all mostly rated higher than Kiah. some averaged less minutes, several averaged more. i wouldn't trade Kiah for any of them. i guess by your logic, outside of 5 or so players, the entire freshman class is a bust.
i think i'll pay more attention to intelligent posters in the future.
i sure am. and i'm not sure i've ever seen a bigger idiot on a message board. go back to whatever hole you crawled out from and stop being such a moron.really?? Not a single freshmen in the USa??
are you frickng for real??
Gee, Nan the administrator, my post is what you call "trolling" around here??Well, so much to address...
First of all, I don't know why you think we need to be objective. Certainly, many here will be objective but it's not required. If that's one of your requirements, perhaps another board would suit you better?
Secondly, what the fans ramble on about - minutes/hours after a loss, mind you - has zero affect on the team. We'd love to have that much influence but, alas, it's Geno that runs the show, not us.
Thirdly, if you gave us fans a day or so to digest the disappointment you'd find a different set of posts but instead you choose to judge us on what you see right after a loss. I would appreciate it if you could ratchet back on the hostility while people are still dealing with their disappointment. It's a tad grating to essentially be told to suck it up by someone who doesn't care about the team like we do.
I did not call you a troll. Get a grip.Gee, Nan the administrator, my post is what you call "trolling" around here??
Pretty amazing.
God, I'm sorry, Stokes is god's gift to women's basketball, dev peters is the mother of all post players, and not a single UConn recruit EVER underperforms.
Jesus.
Actually Morgan Jones from Northwestern averaged close to 14 PPG. i missed Goss tho. good catch. but my point kinda was (when not responding to the yahoo) that the players who scored and produced more than Kiah were also ASKED to do more.Bria Goss was the second leading scorer on Kentucky at 11.0 ppg. She may well have been the third leading freshman scorer in the nation. Unlike the prior year, not so many frosh made impacts this season. The year before, we had Hartley, Dolson, Ogwumike, Gray, Sims, Schimmel, Lucas, Thomas, Simmons,et al.
There are more than that, but it's a moot point.Actually Morgan Jones from Northwestern averaged close to 14 PPG. i missed Goss tho. good catch.
Ah, but your fellow "troll-killers" in arms did, and then you jumped in with your holier-than-thou garbage.I did not call you a troll. Get a grip.
No one said Kiah is "God's gift" to anything. But we like her a lot and we don't have to be objective, no matter how much you try to ram said "objectivity" down our throats. If you don't like it, move along.
Please show me the "criticism I've heaped"??I don't post much, but the board has been beyond patient with you. While the team over-achieved, this loss stings. We lost, so everyone could have played better, I suppose. Heaping all the criticism on an inexperienced freshman seems overly harsh. If you disapprove of our national flag blue tinted glasses, I'm sure other programs would love to hear your analyses. Ciao.
LOL .. she's a freshman who played limited minutes all season and she stepped up today
