Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

Both Saint Francis' that were D1 have left the division (Brooklyn dropped athletics all together if I recall correctly)

They will have 8 as they added Chicago St last year. 3 schools jumped from D2 since 2022. The NEC is in a very bad place
University of New Haven - come on down!

I stand corrected :)

Maffia shouldn't be capitalized. :)
MAFIA should technically be entirely capitalized, as it's an acronym, and indeed it should only have one F.

Morte Alla Francia Italia Avanti (or Morte Alla Francia Italia Anela). Meaning "Death to France, Italy Advance".

If you believe the earliest stories, it was groups of Sicilians trying to drive out the French occupation of Sicily during Napoleon's time. What started probably as something non-criminal morphed into what we know it as during modern times...

I thought the same thing, but they chose the less common but still correct variant of the spelling, probably to sound smarter. ;)
Thank you Google for this.
The words "maffia" and "mafia" are essentially the same, both referring to organized criminal organizations, but "mafia" is the more common and widely used term, while "maffia" is a variant spelling, often used in a historical or specific context.
Cosa Nostra. Amateurs

I think Mafia is Mafia

The word Mafia (English: /ˈmɑːfiə/; Italian: [ˈmaːfja]) derives from the Sicilian adjective mafiusu, which, roughly translated, means 'swagger', but can also be translated as 'boldness' or 'bravado'. In reference to a man, mafiusu (mafioso in Italian) in 19th century Sicily signified 'fearless', 'enterprising', and 'proud', according to scholar Diego Gambetta.[7] In reference to a woman, however, the feminine-form adjective mafiusa means 'beautiful' or 'attractive'.

... and where do you think that mafiusu came from?? And what had happened at the turn of the 18th to 19th century in Sicily??

Sicilian as a dialect is much much older than the 19th century (I'm one that can speak it with relative fluency). It's like being called a "real trooper" to signify someone who is brave or gives great effort, but the meaning originally comes from being part of a troop.

It's the organization that gave the adjective its meaning, not the other way around...

My family was successful and the French occupation is no more. i can confirm, that today there are no French in the comune of Limina.

In retrospect it appears that there were never any real key tweets.
This might be the most profound post in the history of the Boneyard. It's probably what they would put up on the screen as they started the movie about us:

Perhaps the real key tweets were the friends we made along the way.

I don't want anyone to have a heart attack -- this is obviously not real. But the key tweet we've all been waiting for will be something like this. And then I can finally die in peace.

Dan, do you have a time machine? That tweet won't happen until early next week.
