Key tweets, and it's all gone to Hell.

When Temple was a football-only member of the Big East they were booted for failing to be competitive the year after we joined as a football member in 2004 (they were voted out in 2001).

UConn went 3-3 in its first season in the Big East and Temple went 0-6 in that same (final) year.

So I would say, there's still hope for Rutgers and/or BC to be booted from their conferences.
I read on X where the P4 will start thinning the herd in the next 3 years. Perhaps the old Big East may return?

Actually, Temple was booted for failing to meet the NCAA's requirement for teams to have an average 15,000 butts in the seats for home games. That requirement no longer exists.

kind of, but there's more (from Wiki)

The Big East voted in February 2001 to expel Temple from the conference effective June 30, 2002. Conference officials said that since at least 1996, Temple had been out of compliance with Big East membership standards including competitiveness, attendance, and facilities.

Where do things stand now on expansion? Is that something that you guys ever talk about, or is that completely on the back burner until something requires a change?

There’s really been no conversations at all as it relates to expansion. That ecosystem has settled itself down. We’ve turned our attention to some of the other pressing matters.

Sounds like Aresco (AAC) did before teams were poached - "it's all good"!

The conference might not be talking about it as a group, but the top tier ACC members that will leave will restart the group conversation.

You assume thats the trade

Is there another trade? We can’t get into a P4, and we have been trying for 24 years. Some people want to return to the AAC, so there is that. Otherwise, the current situation is the best option UConn has.

If conference affiliation is still that important for some “fans”, then they can root for Syracuse, BCU or Rutgers.

Who wants to return to the AAC?

I don’t see any benefit of returning to AAC.
I think the current path is working great. Schedule middling P4’s and decent G5’s and continue to build the image of a winning competitive program.
DB is playing it perfect. Our football image has built immensely in a few years. I credit him and Mora for doing this.
If B1G makes an Eastward move, UConn has got to be considered. I could see UVA, UNC, Duke, and UConn getting the call. If other teams are pilfered from the ACC, then UConn and Tulane have got to be next up. Our fans would love either scenario better than Big 12. The Big 12 had their chance but blew it.

His premise is dumb and he repeats it every chance he gets. for some reason he assumes that if we’d been invited to the BIG instead of Rutgers, we’d be in the same exact position that they are in right now. Magically Take away the 2 titles for men and 3 titles for women and replace them with nothing but a $70+mill deficit.

It's not lazy. It's intentional disinfornation.

They blew it with a heavy overtone of dislike from some of the institutions that seemed to come from cultural differences. Having WVU, Kansas, Iowa State and Baylor in UConn's corner was apparently not enough. Gotta think if that Arizona president in Storrs rumor was true, we might pick up the four corners and the former AAC teams. So not as big a putt next time -- if there is a next time.

But you are right, ACC seems like a better fit.

Win baby, win!!

I don’t, but let’s say we can never get into a PX league. Our only option is the top g5 league. Which league would that be for us? For argument sake, it could be a reconstituted ACC, assuming the top 4-6 footballs teams are taken by the remaining P3.

UConn will not leave Big East for AAC.
Maybe football only, but many other scenarios would have to fail first.
