Kevin Willard not happy about our return to Big East

UConn is the big brother who moved back home and threw the little whiny brother out of his room. Now little brother is back in the bunk bed sharing a room with the 9yo.
You had your chance to own New England Providence. Your time ran out with nothing to show.
You are going to find that the little brothers grew some muscle and the big brother while now working hard in the gym, put on a few.

Are you a fan of Kevin Willard's humor?? Go with decaff next time at Dunkin' Donuts
I am a huge Kevin Willard fan. His teams play hard defense and battle every possession. SHU has become a very good program. I can't say I give a rat's ___ what he thinks about UConn coming back. I can tell you that from a Friar fan perspective almost all fans are very pleased your back. Iron sharpens iron and we need UConn for our program to take the next step, if it's capable. I do know if it is going to happen UConn will be a help.

Hopefully the team/programs you root for always have the chance to beat the best. As you say many times, depending on the rivalry, it could be hatred. But for most in this league it will be due to the respect of wanting to beat the team with the most National Championships and history returning. Just a natural fan reaction with the likes of Xavier, Butler, Creighton who we rarely play. Not all hate as much as it is college hoops passion.
Yeah wait till they get ahold of you guys at the Garden. Xavier, Butler and especially Creighton fans are in for culture shock compared to the love fest that has been going on.

Why doesn’t everybody love us, we are UConn! That is exactly the reason nobody can stand you. Strap in, you are now the evil empire of the BE that you never were before. I would like to think that we alone can’t stand you but as you will find out, it’s everybody. None of that will bother any of you nor should it, but it’s not going to be a love fest for your school and especially not for the fans. It is what it is, welcome home.

This.

When I was younger I always rooted for UConn, but respected the Providence Friars with Ernie D, Marvin Barnes, Kevin Stacom. Especially the Final Four Team in 73. Later with Billy Eason Joey Hassett Bruce Campbell and others. Also the late Dave Gavitt (classy) and the great commish Mike Tranghese!! But from my perspective following UConn since 1970 to now I have a different perspective. When UConn took over New England dominance starting in 1988 Friar fans have become paranoid. Jealous of the Huskies 4 National Championships countless Big East Championships. Is their a rivalry yes to an extent. But Friar J relax!! It's like my friend said a few minutes ago. Providence is about dead legends. Make new ones!!!!

PC has always played an entertaining brand of ball.. Going back to Ernie D and Marvin.. Let the games begin..

Many a truth spoken in jest, grasshopper
As usual with Willard, his bone-dry sarcasm contained an unmistakable kernel of truth: While nobody in the league doubts that UConn’s return is good for business, there’s a nagging, gnawing feeling that they let the fox into the henhouse. That the Huskies — who wanted out so badly seven years ago — are barging back into a carefully calibrated brotherhood with their state-school resources, marauding fan base and visions of domination.

I always felt it was Cuse and Georgetown probably because I was there since the beginning and you were down with us for the first decade. I hated Cuse and their fans and still do. You guys are the huge outlier now. Big Public University many championships, football and many of your fans look down on the catholic schools like we can’t compete with you. You will be hated in every arena you travel to in the conference.
Cool! Can't wait for it all to start!

The Catholic schools left the conference, we didn't go anywhere. Can't say I blame them once Tulane and Tulsa were invited, I'm pretty sure that was the last straw. But this narrative that we fled the BE is just trash.

Calhoun wasn’t well liked by the people he did not care or want to be liked by. I am fine with that.

Maybe here and there but I think our roster would be top 3 in any conference today Momentum is just starting to build. We are right back where we belong... and so is PC.

Not sure if that was a slam but I'm going to tentatively say I agree with this because I know we have a good team, again. :)

What on earth makes you think we want to be liked by the other fanbases

I'm now expecting that during our game this year Kevin Willard will rip off his mask and reveal himself to be...Frank Haith.
Complete with handshake that leads to ejection?

Couldn't get it to play. Summary?
Said he was joking around and Hurley is a great coach and UConn is a great program. Then went right back and doubled down on how he doesn't think it's a good addition since it takes away 2 non conference games they could have scheduled

Kevin Willard wants to be undefeated, but he wants to do so by adding two more games again NJIT and Wagner every year rather than playing 2 games against UConn. I’ve noticed from interviews that Jay Wright understands that to be the best you have to play the best (not just talking about UConn here, just in general), but KW is pretty much saying adding UConn isnt good cause it makes it harder for him, poor guy :(

Yeah, I mean, when daddy comes home with his belt in his hand it's not always pretty

These coaches kill me...your job is not permanent sir. A few bad brakes or wrong turns and they’ll be replacing you.
