He didn't get a promotion. He was still in an administrative role at UConn. Now he finally gets to be a coach.

This board is so strange, he wasn't getting promoted here and wasn't coaching. Penn State wanted him as a coach, so he left for the better opportunity. It really doesn't get more cut and dry. Wish him well.

I think you misread KSC's post. He was saying that the Penn State job "is a coaching gig." The "this" referred to the Penn State job, not the UConn job.
