Kemba to Knicks

More evidence the Knicks are no longer clueless. Finally a UCONN player on the Knicks not named Travis Knight.

Thrilled as a Knicks fan but hoping his knee troubles from last year are a thing of the past.
unfortunately they are not. it’s something he will have to deal with for the rest of his career.

hopefully it can be managed and he can be effective on the knicks. would hate to see him as a shell of his former self in the garden.

Home at last! This is where Kemba belongs and I pray he shows any haters out there that he is still an elite PG in this league. His family, friends and UConn alum that work in the city will show him plenty of love.

.-.
I think this is the first former Husky to play for my Knicks, at least in my lifetime. Can anyone think of anyone else?
I'm hearing Travis Knight did.

Lifelong Knicks fan (sadly) until Kemba went to Boston. I was soooo happy to shed the Knicks once and for all…. But now I’m back.

when last we left Kemba ...

This feels great and may be the opening to several great years for Knicks and us. Depends largely on his health; because I am certain his enthusiasm and motivation are in the right place

As a huge Knicks fans this is amazing! Kemba at $74 mil over two I’d be concerned…Kemba at $8 mil I’m doing cartwheels. Him and Rose can each play 20-25 min a game and hopefully stay healthy and fresh. Need that jersey ASAP.

.-.
why did the Thunder do a buyout and move him?

KEMBA!

(Only have enough time to post immediate reaction prior to my 1pm meetings with my boss!)

Normally I would wish bad (non-medical-related) things to happen to a guy who flamed out on the Celtics and then signed with the Knicks on the cheap but I will make a one-time exception here!

I hope Kemba gets his groove back.

Kemba in MSG, gotta love it.

Cardiac Kemba back to breaking ankles at the Garden. Where's McGhee?

Still in a walking boot, probably, since he suffered the worst broken ankle of all time

.-.
He doesn’t remotely fit their timeline. Maledon, SGA, the Australian they criminally drafted over Bouk. No sense keeping him around
Why did they do that trade with Boston just to eat most of the contract??? For a mid 1st rounder?

I think they’ve since flipped that first rounder for 2 more. Also dumped the horford contract. It’s what they do, god bless whatever thunder fans are out there

Have no interest in the Knicks, no matter who plays for them. Hope this works out for Kemba. I don't expect him to return to All Star form, but I really hope he plays well and has some success.

You switched NBA allegiances over an individual player?
LOL This.

Amazing.

As a 50 year Knicks fan ( save your pity, Im a Jets fan too, Im used to it) , I did root for Kemba to do well on the C's (and Charlotte) , but I could give 2 Chiefs about the success of those teams. Im a Knicks fan. The Celtics could put Okafor, Villanueva, Hamilton, Ray Allen, and Kemba on the floor as their starting lineup, but I still wouldnt root for Celtic success. Im amazingly confused by this.

I definitely get this. But I’m in a unique (good?) position to not have a favorite NBA team, so I follow my guys.

Celtics had been my team with Ray, until he left, then I was a nomad. Charlotte was hopeless so I wouldn’t call them “my team” but during Kemba’s time I rooted for them. Now with Bouk and Kemba the 2 main alums left (and I liked Utah's team already so adding Rudy helps) I’ll root for Charlotte and to a degree the Knicks.

It's weird not having a favorite team, it's really the only sport I'm like that. My whole childhood I had a favorite as well (Charlotte). I definitely wouldn't be able to switch allegiances in other sports for 1 player, so I do get how weird it is.

Unfortunately thats likely..

Ehh all those situations are different in their own ways and not really similar to this.

Francis was a terrible fit at the height of Knicks dysfunction and everyone knew it at the time. Tmac was strictly for getting his expiring contract had nothing to do with him as a player. And penny was a throw in from the marbury trade.

It would compare closer to getting Derrick Rose last year, or bringing in Jason Kidd. Low risk, lower expectations, but hopefully can play an important role

Glad I was not the only one with this thought process.

I don't care how bad the Knicks are, have been, or will be, it is the Knicks for life. Though as someone who grew up in the '90s and has been spoiled by the success of UConn, the Yankees, and the Patriots, the Knicks' failures have been MUCH easier to stomach.

I can relate. I haven't had a favorite NBA team since the Sixers traded Barkley. I follow UConn players from team to team. I guess I'm a Knicks fan now. Celtics, it's been fun but gotta run..
