Kayleigh invited to USA Basketball U19 team trials

IMO, Strong was probably invited and declined based on the HC being Moren. The same coach who played her limited minutes despite her being the best all around player on the team at last year’s U18 Americup. If so, I like the decision.
I didn't know about Edwards and Smith that they had been invited for the AmeriCup 2025, I think they have a good chance of making the team, as USA basketball would probably have invited them for the U19 World Cup. As for Sarah, she's already taken part in a recent FIBA international competition, the 3X3, and I can't remember seeing an American player taking part in two FIBA competitions in the same year, so maybe that was good for her too.

Kayleigh's USC team will be on BTN at 7:00, 8:00, and 9:00 CDT. You can get a chance to watch her play although, she got very little playing time in the last game they played UCLA.

Heckel made the team.

No chavez is pretty interesting.

Maybe the only college player?, not sure what the competition will be like but she needs to be playing college level players. Love her game and think she will be good but I don’t think she got a lot accomplished last year. I look at this year at UConn as her freshman year. Don’t know why I just do.

I don’t think I agree with that. She played a lot more at USC than she would have played at UConn last year. Do you consider Cheli and Ziebell freshmen? I think Heckel is further along in her college development.

Had she played against KK, Paige and Chen every day in practice and learning from the UConn coaches, I think she’d be a better player today than she already is. Just my opinion. And I still think she should be playing against college players this summer. Her age is her age and obviously the staff let her go so.

This experience could be good for leadership development. I assume at USC everything in the backcourt revolved around Juju. She should be a leader on this team running the show gaining confidence as a PG. I assume the coaching staff want her confident.

I get your point, but to be honest, I sort of consider Ziebell semi-freshman given her limited playing time last season. That said, she has the benefit of a years worth of coaching and practices and playing time on some big stages. Actually, don't think that we saw "the real Ziebell" last season. I'm looking forward to seeing what she can do this year.

For what it's worth, Morgan's quick adjustment to high-level college ball lead year was impressive. I'm also looking forward to seeing what she will do this year, when she's fully healthy.

The other thing is it's good for Heckel to be with all those potential recruits. She is most likely still in the full out excitement and awe phase of being a husky so she can do some recruiting.

This I did think of. And agree.
