Karaban still weighing decision whether to return or go pro

How about this scenario? Alex already decided last week to go into the NBA draft and told Hurley and the coaching staff then.

In return they asked him to give them a week before he announces so that they can re-interview and recruit the portal PF's they've targeted and want to sign.

By AK keeping quiet, UConn can swoop in and sign the player they want without the other college coaches who want these same PF's having any idea of what's going on. Dan Hurley playing chess while others are playing checkers!

The scenario that makes the most sense to me is:

Alex: Hey Coach, my agent has talked to a bunch of teams and I’m a borderline first rounder. It’s going to come down to who else declares for the draft.

Dan Hurley: Ok when do you think you’ll know by?

Alex: I won’t know for sure until April 26/27 when we find out exactly who is in the draft or not.

Dan Hurley: OK well based on NCAA rules you’re a graduate and don’t need to declare. Let’s wait until we know who’s declared then we can take Sunday to reassess and discuss your best option. Then after we make a decision you can get your Tipton edit or whatever and post it Monday.

Here’s another topic for debate:

Darrion Williams, the #2 PF in 247’s transfer portal ranking, is still available. So is he just waiting on AK’s decision, and ready to commit to UConn, if Alex stays in the draft? If so, seems like he’d be decent consolation.

He's going through the NBA Draft process and is planning on staying in the draft

Neither one of them is a power forward. Sure, they can both play the 4 if necessary, or if Hurley wants to go small, but neither of them is really suited to that position

They all say that until the day they withdraw.

This list says he'll be just testing the waters and then going back to college. Who knows how accurate this list is. It's probably just their best guess.

Dom Amore was on the Rob Dibble Show on ESPN Radio about 20 minutes ago discussing MLB. As the interview ended he said: "Be on the lookout for an Alex Karaban announcement soon." And that was it.

I'll go with an 8 pm Instagram post announcing he's staying. Or leaving. Or no announcement at all.

It was Saturday at 1159 PM but obviously he is waiting to publically announce what he is already chosen before at the right time for what he thinks is for all parties involved.
