Karaban still weighing decision whether to return or go pro

He should return with the understanding it’s also a training year for coaching. It should just be an open assistant coach in waiting type situation like what Duke did for Scheyer. He meant that much to the program and has the leadership and teaching gene. Not sure he’s an NBA guy. Definitely a future coach.
All due respect, but did you miss where he said the NBA is his dream? Who are any of us to deny anyone the chance to achieve their dream?

He's going to make a fair amount of NIL money, probably more than being a late 2nd round selection or undrafted free agent. Ironically, he probably hurt his draft prospects by coming back last year and has nowhere to go but up.

My fellow Tomahawk is a defensive tweener in the NBA, but he is a superb college player.

How do you keep a turkey in suspense? Just ask Alex……
Reminds me of the Jefferson Airplane song, White Rabbit...go ask Alice... I think I'll just listen to that song over and over again till I hear his decision.

What are we going to do once he announces his decision? What's our next obsession? Oh, of course his replacement if he decides to not return or the backup 5 or 4/5 combo. There's always something to obsess about on the Boneyard.

Not sure if mentioned but supposedly he’s not announcing til tomorrow. Longer this goes feels like he’s gone. Time to recruit.
I have no clue what his decision will be but I have a very strong suspicion that if Alex does leave for the NBA, within 48 hours of that announcement there will be another announcement about someone transferring here who would coincidentally be (from what we do know) a quality replacement for AK.

If he comes back, we've got a solid 6 months of discourse of Jaylin Stewart vs. Braylon Mullins.

If he leaves, we're going to be scouring RealGM's Europe pages.

But also, EYBL/AAU play just started, so it's time for HS recruiting to kick off.

What do you mean?

Sometime listen to just the Grace Slick vocals with all the background music stripped away. It's impressive.

Agree. Coaches need to know. And need to set the conditions regarding Alex’s decision process.

Reading the tea leaves in Storrs Central I believe this to be the case. I am guessing that they insisted last night was the absolute deadline for a decision based on Jared’s reporting.

I am guessing that if a player they determined would be a replacement for Alex, that the player was interested in coming and met the NIL requirements, Alex would be required to accelerate his decision. Knowing Alex and his love for UConn I believe he would understand and agree to those conditions.

There has not been any substantive information regarding our staff reaching out to PF portal players. The assumption in this forum has been Alex has prevented the staff from doing so. But Jared has reiterated starting several weeks ago that the staff had a plan in place whether Alex returned or left and we shouldn’t worry.

My gut says he’s returning. By far and away the best option for UConn. And hopefully, if I’m correct, he has the type of season to insure he gets a first round pick next year.
Great points. But I disagree with your gut.

If he was returning he wouldn’t need time to contact people. If you’re staying you just say it. If you’re saying goodbye, you need time to chat with people.

Yeah I think it's impossible to have a grammatically correct sentence using "and" 7 times. Lol
I guess reading comprehension isn’t your thing, but you’re pretty good at throwing insults. I apologized for the rambling nature of my post having just returned home from a front and rear entry spinal fusion and was still pretty heavily medicated and was unable to access the internet until returning home. While I do miss our annual passes at the games played in Hartford I really don’t miss some of you small minded people that we left behind. Have a sparkling day buddy.

I was just responding to the other poster’s post. I never point out grammatical errors on here. Just thought it was kind of funny. Hope you’re feeling better. No ill will intended. You sound a little cranky if that bothered you. Which I guess is understandable considering your circumstances.

NBA.com just projected Alex at #45 citing as a problem his ability to create his own shot which he didn’t improve last year. If he gets lots of national exposure and good money to stay then why is playing in G league or sitting on a bench better for his future NBA career than coming back?
