Karaban still weighing decision whether to return or go pro

No sport. If you read my next post I say he doesn't owe us anything. His teammates, coaches, university...maybe.
What makes you so sure the players and coaches don’t know?

A few on this board need to add a hobby, a significant other, something to occupy themselves a little for no reason other than their own sanity.

AK has earned the privilege of taking as much time as he believes he needs.

Hurley is not sitting around, hoping that a suitable alternative materializes if AK does decide to leave.

Things will progress when they progress, b!tch!ng and moaning won't expedite that.

He’s earned the right to understand how important this time of the year is for recruiting that’s all he’s earned. And he’s also been around long enough to understand what his delay could cause he’s not the program he’s a piece. The only thing earned now is he can be recruited over at this point to assure we have a potential player who can play his position. It’s been too long sorry he has to know the ramifications.

If they knew he was staying then why not announce? They don’t know and they can’t throw the hook out to any impactful recruits who will ask “what about Karaban”? Well we’re not sure but we will find you some minutes.

Doesn’t work like that Deep you know it. It seems all are unsure to me, hope I’m wrong.

Saw this on X. Not sure of the scoure a guy named "MIke"

Now the announcement will be tomorrow…there’s No reason to personally deliver good news to multiple people before announcing, so guessing it’s bad news.

Your point about recruits asking about AK is an important one that many seem to be overlooking.
To recruit an equivalent player you can't say don't worry about where you fit in, especially with a one year guy who believes he has an NBA future.

When St John’s is putting together a top 2/3 team literally from scratch and a team that recently won 2 National Championship titles ( and likes to refer to themselves as the Basketball capital of the world) can’t seem to get to 10 players and recently lost AK’s replacement to Georgetown because of a lack of playing time and and can’t seem to secure a commitment from AK about returning leaving a potential giant hole not only in the starting lineup but no UConn level back up for the PF and C positions while most of the quality players are dropping off of the portal and the only development that matters concerning the team is negative.
Thats a very long sentence, my guy

Fans help make the engine go. Without fans there is no revenue. So there’s that.
Absolutely true. If we like the product we attend, we contribute. If we’re dissatisfied we don’t. No different than going to a movie or a pizza joint. We’re customers.

Unfortunately fans treat their teams differently. We feel the need to be part of the decision making process and have a right to know what is going on in the creation of the product.

Go to the pizza thread. Someone expresses they like a place and why. Others might agree with or disagree with that person and state why. Very little heated debate. Go to the entertainment forum and you see similar conversations about a movie or tv series.

Sports in general elicits similar conversations. But if someone is passionate about a team the degree of personal emotional entanglement goes up quite a lot.

We can conjecture all we want. We can be optimistic and believe Alex and the coaches are intelligent and have a similar desire in the future of the program trying to work out a conciliatory arrangement even as they diverge in their needs. Or we can be negative and believe one or both sides are selfish, immature or spiteful and are sabotaging the program. But in the end we are not entitled to the process taking/taken place between Alex and the coaches.

And without that information we have no idea how damaging this process has been.

If Alex returns this “drama”, at the minimum, reduced the interval of time until our next game. Perhaps some of us will have suffered needlessly. If he doesn’t return than we will have to wait longer to determine our situation. Although I’m certain some of us have a crystal ball indicating how bad things will be.

Nope I agree I’m not entitled at all to know anything Alex is thinking or wants. But the coaches are and if they know as much as us it’s not a good thing period. Again, who knows but we are entitled to opinions or there wouldn’t be a Boneyard, and it doesn’t look all that good from this perspective.

I don't disagree, but you pay to watch the game, not to be privy to every decision a kid makes. Not that I have any issue about discussing whether or not Alex will be back next year. I just have no moral indignation about the fact that I don't know what he's going to do yet.

Why is everyone ignoring the article from MotorcycleSports? They really seem to have it dialed in.

Agree. Coaches need to know. And need to set the conditions regarding Alex’s decision process.

Reading the tea leaves in Storrs Central I believe this to be the case. I am guessing that they insisted last night was the absolute deadline for a decision based on Jared’s reporting.

I am guessing that if a player they determined would be a replacement for Alex, that the player was interested in coming and met the NIL requirements, Alex would be required to accelerate his decision. Knowing Alex and his love for UConn I believe he would understand and agree to those conditions.

There has not been any substantive information regarding our staff reaching out to PF portal players. The assumption in this forum has been Alex has prevented the staff from doing so. But Jared has reiterated starting several weeks ago that the staff had a plan in place whether Alex returned or left and we shouldn’t worry.

My gut says he’s returning. By far and away the best option for UConn. And hopefully, if I’m correct, he has the type of season to insure he gets a first round pick next year.
