Kansas

We win by 15+
It's OK to be humble sometimes, really. I know we all want and even expect a win. But in the same sense, it's OK to be nervous because this is going to be a very hard game. UConn could lose, but let's hope for a win and of course, we should avoid a repeat of 95, that goes without saying. Regardless of who wins it is likely to be a very tight game under 5 point win for either side. Two very good teams with two excellent coaches going at it.

My biggest fears:
  • The refs and Danny Hurley soap opera
  • Clingan foul trouble (see previous)
  • The inevitable highlight segment from the '95 meeting
  • Icey cold shooting Huskies (see previous)
  • Hunter Dickinson does his best Dirk Nowitski impression
  • Nick Timberlake does his best Steph Curry impression
  • Tristan Newton does his best Terrance Samuel impression
  • Freshman in a big game on the road
  • The refs again
  • Bill Self is a minion of Satan
  • The Boneyard on Saturday morning
We're the defending National Champs (our FIFTH in 24 years) and just set the record for most double-digit out-of-conference wins in a row.

A board-wide meltdown if a meaningless December game doesn't go well would be peak Boneyard.

Life is good people. Nobody wins them all.

I feel it will be a double digit win for whoever comes out on top. UConn will either have a 2023 NCAA tournament like game or Kansas will pull away slowly at the end via free throws.

Yeah the fact he shoots 72% is the point. He scores on cuts to the rim and lobs and is not a threat outside of 5 ft. He has a very simple offensive game. I’m not saying he’s bad. He does what he does well, but what he does is not what has given Karaban problems historically.
From my memory- Karaban last year had trouble at the rim with stronger & bigger 4’s- would get into foul trouble because they would over power him- as well on the glass.

With that said, Adams does have the explosiveness to do so, but he doesn’t have the height- should be an interesting matchup.

Peak Boneyard? That’s a tough call. There are a lot of peaks in the world. There are peaks in the Himalayas and Andes which no human has ever climbed and many don’t even have names.

Last January someone here actually wrote the words (or something similar to) “name even one thing we do well… just one... you can’t.”

If we win it means really really great things for us.

If we lose, we aren’t at full strength anyways.

Don’t know much about Kansas outside of Dickerson but he’s pretty skilled. Donovan is bigger and more talented. I’m just really excited to see this as a measuring stick game for everyone and where we are.

If we so happen to win this by double digits I’m going to go ahead and get the itinerary for Phoenix in order.

Yes we can absolutely win this one. Not the end of the world if we lose but I would hardly call it meaningless, even if it is this early in the season. Do you have any idea what it would do for the psyche of this team to walk into AFH and smoke them - not to mention the fanbase that STILL remembers that awful game almost 30 years ago!

Worried that Timberlake has his best game if the season and breaks out

If you haven't resigned yourself to Timberlake hitting at least 5 threes tomorrow night after all the posts about him you haven't been Boneyarding long enough. It's a fait accompli at this point. I'm not even worried about it because it's going to happen.

Timberlake gonna have a career game for sure. Will be incredibly annoying, hoping we can still win though

Anyone who doubts Clingan's defensive skills is a flat out hater. I have called into question his offensive skillset, because that's still developing, but his defense? Come on folks. Dickinson is slow. DC will stay with him. And offensively, Dickinson is soft as hell. DC will dominate this game.

Clingan can’t get into foul trouble due to the pumpfake.

My daughter has her first solo violin recital tomorrow night, so I won't be able to catch this until around the half. Her piece is only a few minutes of a ~2 hour line up. Still trying to decide whether to keep an eye on the score or do my best to ignore it and watch from the start on an hour delay. First world problems.

Dude, this is easy. Enjoy your daughter’s recital and watch the game on delay without commercials.

Fair enough, I think most of those ideas would lead to us getting destroyed on the defensive end but we'll see what happens tomorrow night. Definitely need to throw a few different looks at them, I just don't think any of these have much chance of working.
If we're playing man to man with Clingan just standing at the rim he'll have 2 fouls within 30 seconds.

I think the board is really over-correcting with this matchup. We're a really good team and at worst evenly matched with Kansas. Don't need to reinvent the wheel to win this game. We have just as many mismatches to exploit as they do
I'm not worried at all - l actually I think if we played them 10 times on a neutral court we'd win 7 times. Just thinking of wrinkles we have to show them.

Newton is the key to a W or L. How the rest of the team plays is typically fairly consistent.

Newton on the other hand plays either below his norm or above his norm. IMO, he’s typically inconsistent game to game.

But in big games he’s almost always focused and on his game. Tristen will be the X factor for the Huskies against KU.

We played BAD yesterday and still won by 20. Kansas plays bad today and is fighting with a quad 4 level team at home with less than 3 mins left. There’s a difference.
Classic trap game. It mat be out of conference but they likely view UCONN as their toughest game of the season.
