Clingan for sure changed the game defensively. Reibe is just a very talented 7 foot kid. Clingan did things he won’t be able to do and Reibe does and will continue to do things Clingan could not do. We are fortunate to be able to say that they both played in Ct.People have to remember this. Reibe is doing well right now which is great. Clingan completely changed the game when he was on the court even at this point though.
Reibe is not Clingan and that’s okay. Reibe is still developing great and will be great for us year 2 and should be ready to be a starter.
I was thinking the same way, Hamilton maybe Allen. Mullins is just beginning but he looks like he could become a truly elite scorer and player going forward. He still just looks like a kid. He is going to get much stronger as he matures. The only UConn player that I can think of that could make a 17 point game seem like it was easy was Rip. You would watch a game look at the box score afterward and Rip would have 17-19 points.
I think Mullins is going to be similiar. And he will have a 30 point game this year maybe more than one.
Game totally changed in 2nd half with him on the floor. The defense was ridiculously good and shut Kansas down.Hurley didn’t lie when he said Braylon might be his best freshman ever. Just wow. And Reibe too. Two special talents
Did Chevy Troutman finally get out of the weight room an graduate?Karl Krauser, Brandin Knight, and Julius Page all still play for Pitt.
That is what happened, and I do not believe the commentators made any mention of it.
Give him time. Remember TN first few monthsDemary needs to do some soul searching. terrible game from him when he should be one of our leaders in a tough environment.
he continues to play too passive and deferential. not stressing the defense at all with the ball in his hands, just looking for the next person to pass to.
When Mullins goes up for his jump shot, kind of reminds me of NBA Jam from the 90s with guys jumping way off the court…. feels like he’s flying halfway towards the rafters.
Oh and after tonight, it’s still 6-4 ! suck it chickens !
That wasn't a "C" game in any way. Mullins was the best player on the floor in only his second college game. He didn't just make shots... he also defended well, made nice passes, rebounded and hit big free throws at crunch time. Total stud. That was Mullins' "C" game. Looking forward to the 40 point "A" game.
That one pass late in the game where he just gifted it to the Kansas player that led to a fast break the other way...🤦♂️Solo needs to fix the mental mistakes because he is a dynamic scorer. Mullins and Solo together is just so dynamic. You can't lock down both of them..
Reibe definitely has much better touch around the hoop than Clingan did when he was a freshman. But Eric needs to dunk the ball more! You're 7'1, slam that thing home! What incredible Freshmen we have. Mullins could score 20 in his sleep. Reibe is becoming our next Clingan, and might even be farther along than he was at this point. The future is bright and this team at full strength will be scary in March.
That's an unstoppable shot for sure.I loved that fade away jumper after driving in from the foul line. That was a thing of beauty.
Yeah, it really looked like we figured out how to defend Kansas in the 2nd half (most of their points in the 2nd half were from the FT line I believe). Last year's squad didn't have that ability to completely lock up a team like they did last night in the 2nd half.Props to KU for their switching defense. Bigger props to the UConn staff and players for figuring out how to beat it. And the biggest props for UConn's D, arguably their best defense half so far this season.
I feel like we didn't really figure out a way to counter their switching till the 2nd TV timeout in the 2nd half. Good thing our defense (+ Kansas' bad offense?) held the line till we figured out how to score.Halftime adjustments by the UConn coaching staff to KU's switching was huge.
People have to remember this. Reibe is doing well right now which is great. Clingan completely changed the game when he was on the court even at this point though.
Reibe is not Clingan and that’s okay. Reibe is still developing great and will be great for us year 2 and should be ready to be a starter.
That's actually what I'm most concerned about. We weren't able to get the ball into the post. It won't matter how good Reibe and Reed are if the guards can't get the ball to them
Great article on Karaban, Hurley etc- thanks for posting it!Karaban pays heed to Hurley’s challenge, helps will UConn to first win over Kansas

I still remember that game. We got absolutely boat raced out of the arena.2. Got whooped in 95’ in Kansas City, basically a road game.
