Lots of interesting things to unpack in this article.
1. "Former Adidas employee T.J. Gassnola testified in federal court last October that he made payments of $90,000 on behalf of Adidas to the mother of KU basketball player Billy Preston and $2,500 to the guardian of Silvio De Sousa. Gassnola also said he agreed to pay $20,000 to Fenny Falmagne, the guardian of De Sousa, to help Falmagne exit an agreement to send De Sousa to Maryland, an Under Armour school."
This is an interesting way to phrase this. Why would De Sousa need $20K to exit an agreement with UMD? Did UMD provide De Sousa money through UA to come and play? If so, that's interesting and noteworthy....
2. "ESPN recently reported that NCAA investigators in addition to N.C. State were working on cases at KU, Arizona, Auburn, Creighton, Louisville, LSU and USC."
If the NCAA is going to drop the hammer on Kansas, then it wouldn't be shocking if they hit all the rest of these teams at some point soon, assuming there was also evidence. We are competing against Auburn and LSU for Cam Thomas... Hope the NCAA doesn't drag their feet.
3. This process is going to take a longggg time it appears. Could until the end of this upcoming season for the NCAA to even issues a "statement of the case". From there a hearing has to be set. Kansas (and any other school eventually charged) can then go through an appeals process. This could drag out for years before any sanctions get enforced.
