Let’s see if Houston stays 1 again with a second loss. Them maintaining 1 with a loss at home made no sense. UConn dropping to 10 is the most feel good part of that Col loss.

The SEC is gonna be a beast. Auburn, Bama, UK, Tenn may all be better than the best team in the BE. They need to square off with the B12 in a preseason matchup.

B12 may have been slightly overhyped as AZ, Baylor and Houston may have been a bit overrated. Houston def misses Shead.
Um, what???

The issue although Mahaney is a part all falls on Samson. He is only a 15 minute off the bench pace changing guy. Ross should start. Ross is better. Sam just keeps making the worst fouls you can think off at the worst times. I think in both games he had a combined 4 fouls in the first 2 minutes of each half. Against pedestrian bigs. Kulkbrenner us going to light him up.
I meant reed should start

If Nowell replaces Mahaney in the rotation and Ball and Johnson figure out their defensive issues, we got a squad.
What exactly makes you think Samson Johnson is going to “figure it out” in his 4th year??? We kinda know what he is.

What a ridiculous post. “The shine is coming off.” And “our reputation is suffering.” Oh really? Tell that to our incoming recruits. Go find another program to follow.
Sorry. Did not mean to irritate you. But if you notice, I did say it is a "false sense".

If you don't mind, I will still follow and support UConn.

So what are you saying here? You're disagreeing that when he talks threepeat, he's not talking about the recent success at UConn is due to the amount of work the coaches and kids put into their game? He's not talking to potential recruits that the sky is the limit in Storrs?

You're saying Hurley should've stayed in his lane and played the humble card like he's never done in his life? There is nothing humble about UConn basketball.
What I am saying it it’s naive to believe that after losing 4 starters to the NBA, we would be in serious contention to 3peat.

This team will get better but can’t be compared to the championship teams. Besides all the other shortcomings that have been mentioned our defensive rebounding is fair at best and our offensive rebounding is dismal. It can improve but the two championship teams were rebounding bliss.
Agreed. If we got one rebound at the end, CU never gets that last shot. I was also wondering how it wasn't traveling when the guy fell down on his own after getting the long rebound. Weird play.

We'll be fine, the OP is spot on. The fair weather fans will be back once the team gells. They always do

You can always tell who doesn't have experience in terms of watching a team gell and develop chemistry. Some people think winning is easy. Or maybe they think every team takes the same path, when that couldn't be further from the truth.

They'll be in the mix come March. That's all a fanbase can hope for

If you think I'm insulting you, then I probably am.

Not sure it was a case of the best we could get as much as it who we selected. We probably had plenty of options if we pursued.

I haven’t dug in yet but you can bet the opposing fanbase perception, especially the blue bloods, is that last two years were a freak lucky mirage based on great talent anomaly. That Hurley is unhinged, it was all Luke Murray behind the scenes, blah blah. When you’re as polarizing a personality as Hurley is, you’re respected when you’re winning but fanbases cannot wait until you lose so they can call you a freak accident and lucky. The narrative is gonna run hot with him.
Take running pretty hot too.

Beware the power post that uses the second person singular. It's guilty of the charge it levels.

What kind of UConn fan wants to bet on what
opposing fans' perceptions of UConn will be? Not I. Leave something like that to those who don't care for UConn.

This is a parlor trick, masquerading as insight, but it's functionally no better than betting against your own team in order to claim a scoop you or any Husky fan ought not to want to have a part in.

"I was way out front in recognizing there would be no 3-peat" is not badge of pride. UConn fans are the only ones with the possibility of their team doing a 3-peat. Seize the opportunity to cheer for it to happen. When it comes to the NCAA Tournament, only one team ends the season without a loss. Cheer for it to happen. One game at a time.

Your “false sense” comment is unrelated to your other comments I pointed out and critical of. Go back and read what you wrote. Those comments are your thoughts vis a vis UConn. The “false sense” comment is clearly speaking to how other teams may view UConn. But yes, I do want you to support UConn BB, both emotionally and financially.

It just goes to show how hard recruiting is. The best transfer G the Back to back champs could get was Mahaney… More than anything this makes me thankful for the fact that KU swooped in and outbid us for Timberlake which enabled us to get Cam. We don’t win back to back with Timberlake instead of Cam.
I mean hopefully Aiden turns it around but it’s been an unreal run at the guard transfer with T Newton, Joey California, and Cam Spencer.

If we took Timberlake last year, we’d all be crying a river.

My thoughts on winning it all are the same - it's a realistic goal.

Disagree. The winning of back to back titles is the recruiting tool.
When you are going for three peat you use that to lure in a -potential recruit. I mean saying you have the chance to play on a team that wins three in a row you are now always remembered. You know legacy kind of stuff. After you don’t win three in a row you use the back to back as an example of what is possible if you choose UConn.

Sorry but that is a basic selling strategy……

Nowell is going to have to develop. Diarra is gonna need a rest and Mahaney is proving to be an off guard not a point. Let him come in for Solo and run some action for him to allow him to shoot and score. We are gonna have to live with Nowell freshman mistakes but he is a point just gonna have to play a bigger role than originally anticipated.

The bigs is the hard part. Get Samson out reed in. Let him get some touches and allow him to be more like a Sanogo where we feed the ball into post more deliberately. The fouls on defense might have to be solved with some zone. I’m at a loss there as two games in a row isn’t an accident.

Stewart needs to be an impact off bench. Ross looks overmatched and can’t shoot from what we’ve seen.

That’s all I got. We have great coaches they are just gonna have to audible now that they see what exactly they have when the lights are now on.

Signare played better in his minutes yesterday than Johnson has all season. The move is to start Reed and rotate Johnson, Singare and in an emergency Stewart and AK.

I never got the impression that Danny was one of those snake oil salesman e.g Pitino and Calipari. That approach fits them but comes across as disingenuous with Hurley.
