Another game today where Karlie Samuleson is getting way more minutes for the Sparks than Mabrey. Odd that they cut her earlier.

Perhaps because they knew she'd be leaving the team to play in the Eurocup. When Williams returns they'll again have to make a choice between Samuelson and Mabrey.

Tierra Ruffin-Pratt and Nneka were the difference makers for LA. TRP was 6-9 from 3 and Nneka was 10-14 from the field.

Tiffany Hayes had a good game but Atlanta got outscored 32-15 in 4Q. Can't be doing that.

Hot start between Seattle and Las Vegas, both teams shooting well. Almost immediately to start the game ESPN's mic picked up an F bomb. I'm not sure, but I have a feeling it came from Laimbeer (it was right after Cambage missed a layup). A few minutes later there was about a 5 second segment w/ no audio. Maybe another F bomb that they managed to edit this time?

This is looking like a barnburner. 21-20 at the end of Q1, Seattle leading. Of course the game between the same 2 teams last Friday looked good in the first half, then turned ugly. I don't think the Storm are going to come up w/ 18 steals in this game (only 1 so far). The audio has cut out momentarily 3 times. I think somebody sitting near a mic has a potty mouth.

If she was on the Sparks she wasnt playing for GB in the Euro Cup. She only committed to GB after being cut. GB was glad she came to play. Havent seen Karlie sign with a foreign team, as of yet, for the fall.

Interesting. I wonder if she's happy the way events unfolded. She did well playing for GB, is now back with the Sparks and has a chance to play in the Olympics next year.

The 2nd quarter got kinda ugly, but then the scoring picked up again the last 2 minutes. 36-35 Aces at halftime.

Jackie Young really tough. If she can get her mid range jump shots down, she can be an all star. And her shot does not look bad

Stef's a pretty physical player and she's 40 lbs. heavier than Achonwa. When she backs down Achonwa, there's going to be some dislodging going on. Ace saw what was going to happen so she set her feet and braced for impact. I think she outsmarted Stef on this one.

That being said, I love them both and Stef's soundbite is hilarious. Ace got the call and got under Stef's skin. Stef got the comeback win. Until next time...

It was a "yes-but" kind of foul. Yes, Stef was kinda sorta trying to back her down. But Achonwa fell *way* too easily, regardless of any weight difference. Contact does not necessarily equal displacement. I saw it about 50-50 between a charge and a no-call imho. One woman's flop is another woman's great defense.

Aces running away w/ the game in Q4. Up 18. Hamby has had a really nice game starting in place of the injured Wilson. The much maligned Plum has also had a nice game. Does a lot of little things, she's been a pesky defender and she's scoring efficiently.

How in the world did the Phoenix-Indiana game start 30 minutes later, but finish before LV-Seattle?!

Another casualty this season. Must be a significant calf tear if the prognosis is 6-8 weeks. She hurt it at the game I attended at Dallas, and was barely putting any weight on it.

Very good showing by Plum tonight. She played really aggressive defense and helped keep energy high. Hamby had a heck of a night and all of Las Vegas looked solid.

Seattle's offense just looks horrible vs the Aces for whatever reason. If Loyd gets healthy and Howard gets back into rhythm they're dangerous. The fact that they're 2 games out of first place with all of the injuries theyve endured is astounding.

Mystics was up 31-16 early in the 2nd quarter against Collier and Minnesota on the road. The three ex-Terps are having good games thus far.

Interesting reporting or speculating on methods to expand the audience for the WNBA.

"Within the topic of expansion also lies another opportunity for the WNBA: cultural buy-in"

2019 WNBA All-Star Game – Experimental Rules
July 25, 2019

Two experimental rules will be in place for the game:
  • 20-Second Shot Clock
    • The shot clock will be shortened from 24 to 20 seconds. The shot clock will still reset to 14 seconds after an offensive rebound.
  • Live Play Substitutions
    • A limited number of player substitutions will be permitted during live play to 1) increase pace and 2) allow All-Stars to enter the game without waiting for a stoppage in play.
    • Each team can use up to one live play substitution per quarter, and only one player can be substituted at a time.
    • Live play substitutions can only be made by the offensive team.
    • A player cannot be substituted out while she is holding the ball.
    • A “Player Check-In Spot” will be designated near mid-court on the sideline as indicated by the arrows below. A player checking into the game during live play must stand on this spot, and be tagged in by a player leaving the court to prevent more than 5 players on the court at any time.
    • Player substitutions during game stoppages will take place per normal WNBA rules.

Has an All Star game clock ever gone past 20 seconds before? No impact.

I like the live player replacement idea. Why limit to one. Heck, let them do it as often as they like. The announcers would be screwed (except they never follow the action anyways).

DD won the skills competition over JJ with a clutch 3pt shot when she was trailing in time (because she could not pass accurately)

Stricklan takes the 3 pt competition over McBride 23-22.

Quigley only had 19 and Kia with 14.

Kayla continues to be the McBride's Maid but never the McBride. ;)

Not only in 3 pt competitions but back in her ND days.

except for EuroLeague 2019 with UMMC Ekaterinburg

The 2nd half of the Mystics & Aces July 5 "earthquake game" will be completed Monday, August 5 in Las Vegas.

- Mystics play a day game in Phoenix the day before.

- Game will be played at T-Mobile Arena, since the Aces' home court at Mandalay Bay is booked that day.

- Mystics expect to have Emma Meesseman, who didn't play in the first half. Aces expect NOT to have A'ja Wilson (ankle), who did play in the first half.

- Mystics are ahead at halftime, 51-36.

She won a bunch of trophies at Yakin Dogu in Turkey as well. Not the Euroleague but everything else there was to win - Turkish Cup, Turkish League, Eurocup
