I assume he meant if no season, and he has some of the 2020 frosh sitting there technically still frosh b/c they didn't play, then you are recruiting kids from the 2021 class it doubles up your frosh class.

That's a big question and concern right now in every sport - what are coaches doing and what are kids doing, not just at the high levels where guys could leave for the NBA, but think about a D3 program that has 4-5 incoming frosh, they don't play a season, then you recruit 3-4 kids from 2021 ... now you have 8-9 guys that are basically in their first year of the program.

Does the coach recruit less kids? Take away offers IF that happens? It's all totally up in the air right now given the state of the world.
Unless teams are allowed to increase the number of scholarships, the coaches' hands are tied, right?

Yeah, I am sure the NCAA will figure a way to address it if the issue arises, but they aren't always on point with this stuff (understatement of the year). Otherwise, the coaches are in a tough spot, for sure.

There was chatter about this a while back. The thought is the NCAA would most likely grant an additional year of eligibility to seniors who would have graduated, and then still allow 13 scholarships on top of those. So, in our case, we would be able to use up to 16 scholarships if Carlton, Polley, and Whaley all wanted to come back for their super senior season.

This is hardly a reason for panic. The NCAA has already dealt with it for the spring sports that never started last season, and did so to expand rosters for one year so no one finished their eligibility last year.

Understood, however, under recruiting will not be an option for anyone. Basically a lot of kids are going to have their hearts broken and it's sad.

Well theoretically that would mean that you wouldn't have to recruit anyone for the next class then since you'd have a full regular roster freshman through junior... which would obviously cause a mess

It's going to be a mess. But it's not going to be a mess because the NCAA doesn't deal with it.

For one year, you'll have expanded rosters and unhappy players without playing time. After 1 year, 2 classes move on and it's back to normal.

Yes. It's sad. But there are 140,000 families that are dealing with lost relatives, and over 20,000,000 to 30,000,000 Americans suddenly unemployed. Is it sad that an incoming freshman next year might be the 16th man on the team and not the 13th? I guess. But our priorities are really, really messed up if anyone is talking about that as opposed to extending testing and unemployment benefits.

A poster said that he was meeting with some of the previous coaching staff at the pizza restaurant chain Blaze Pizza and helping to concoct a recruiting strategy for the types of players they should target and what the recruiting approach should entail in June of 2017.

No proof was provided and we since have a new coaching staff. Further, most (if not all?) of the players that we supposedly targeted after the introduction of this supposed strategy never ended up playing at UConn.

It does not appear to be a joke to the poster, but has become one to others.

Ask Andre Jackson and his mom about Blaze. It was part of his visit. The results speak for themselves. LeBron James is one of the owners. Perhaps an18 year basketball player is more impressed about that than cranky old men behind a keyboard?

I bet he is. I bet it's also not in the top 20 reasons he committed. They have a Blaze in Albany, you know. It was 5 miles from his high school.

‘It was part of his visit’ ie he was hungry on his way home from campus and stopped off for a bite
