As we should. They already tried that with UConn and we said no. I don't remember how long ago that was but I remember that happened. Come to CT or forget it.

Because Gampel has Husky Magic, XL not so much. The game should be at XL. Why would we not schedule at a place that would allow 15k people to watch it live instead of 10k.
That's a ridiculous statement.Because Gampel has Husky Magic, XL not so much.
The Huskies do have a competitive advantage playing at the XL Center. The UConn players are accustomed to playing with the heavy smell of fryer grease permeating the arena.Gampel couldn’t even logistically fit all of us for Northern Arizona. You think Duke will be any better?
Put the game at XL, and only sell extra seats to season ticket holders or give them to students. Make it a gameday atmosphere on Pratt St.
Best take of the yearF* Duke. That is all.
AgreedJust being honest. I don’t want a home and home series with Dook. I would rather just play them in the tourney. We have their number and too many regular season match ups could eliminate that mental edge we currently have. Think about it. If you asked 1000 Dook fans who do you not want to play in the tourney or more specifically the final four, I am thinking we would be the team they would think of. I prefer keeping it that way. I forget what year it was maybe 2009 we played them in MSG some early season tourney. We competed for awhile but there were some questionable calls, and my wife had to get me out of there because when Dook started winning and talking trash it was too easy. I remember saying you guys are a lot better in a meaningless early season tourney than the final four. Because if this was the final four we would be winning and you would be traveling or getting scorched in the second half by a better team. That almost led to blows. My wife grabbed me and we left, with me hurling insults to all the Dook fans in the area. Point being we have the edge right now. Regular season games would dilute that. Now I am ready for everyone to say how wrong this thinking is.
A sign of the weakness of the ACC. It's not as if they've done terrible in the tournament traditionally, but clearly K thought the road games in the ACC were enough to prepare Duke for the difficult environments they might face.Dave Benedict, get on the phone and make it happen.
"This isn't going to be a one-time thing," Scheyer told CBS Sports. "I want to schedule really good teams every season, whether it be Arizona or other big-time teams in the future."
In speaking to Scheyer, he was clear: He's talking about home-and-home series with some of the biggest schools in college basketball.
Arizona's only the start of it. Perhaps home-and-homes await in the future against the likes of Kansas, or Gonzaga, or Indiana, or UCLA, or UConn, etc.?

Duke vs. Arizona: Home-and-home series between traditional powers should be the expectation, not the exception
Jon Scheyer is reviving a scheduling philosophy that Duke got away from in the past decade-plus: playing high-profile home-and-homeswww.cbssports.com
I don't think it's hard at all. Both ESPN and Fox would be thrilled to get one game of this matchup instead of two against cupcakes. They don't lack for games to broadcast, they have far more than they want. All they really want is big time games like this. They also have no say in the matter. UConn and Duke can schedule however they want. No, the Big East media contract controls all home games hosted by a Big East school. So, it doesn't matter if UConn plays Duke or Stonehill at home in a given year. Over the long run, the media partners want a conference to schedule good out of conference games to enhance the schedule.
As a side note, with ESPN the media partner of the ACC and FOX the media partner of the Big East, a game between Duke and UConn will be hard, but not impossible, to schedule.
Hartford has heart! The Huskies do have a competitive advantage playing at the XL Center. The UConn players are accustomed to playing with the heavy smell of fryer grease permeating the arena.
Have you ever been to XL? It is an awful venue for basketball. The venue is dark and somewhat cavernous. the seats are not on top of the court like they are at Gampel. The best seats are gobbled up by corporate types in suits that politely sit there and have their once a month $12 beer. Even though it is an extra 45 minute drive for me, I wish every game was at Gampel. It is electric. XL is a trickle charge. Unfortunately, UConn sold their soul to the devil, aka the State Legislature, years ago. It was humorous to see the UConn president threaten to pull games from XL if UConn's budget got cut. As long as UConn is subsidized by the state, we are stuck with half our games at XL.The game should be at XL. Why would we not schedule at a place that would allow 15k people to watch it live instead of 10k.
I'm not sure whether that last paragraph ever happened, but for a moment, let's assume it did. The (supposed) deal is we have to have half our games in Hartford, but no one has ever alleged that we also agreed to pay an above market lease that is, at best, with a full house a breakeven to having the game in Gampel. As things stand now the inflated lease rate only serves to hide a portion of the CDRA's annual multi million dollar loss in the University of Connecticut athletics department budget. So, the state of Connecticut, pays the University of Connecticut, to pay the athletic department, to pay the CDRA which still shows multi million dollar losses every year. If the state wants the University of Connecticut to support Hartford by playing games in the dilapidated and out of date XL Center they should offer us the use of the facility at no cost to the University.I hear you but I don't think challenging the University's budget is political suicide. The majority of the state either doesn't care about UConn or is in favor of cutting its budget, especially since the University has shown in recent years that they cannot control their costs. They continue to add administration at a high rate. As an example, they have an incredibly high staff count in Admissions. Every year, the number of applications increase to records highs. Why do we need recruiters going to college fairs all over the country? There already are not enough spots for in-state students in Storrs.
Also, this deal with the devil goes back 35+ years. The state funded about 75% of the cost to build Gampel. At the time, UConn agreed that they would still keep about 50% of their home games in Hartford.
I just hope Flagg's there to hold the creepy baby up high enough to keep it from harm. But, alas, he'll be in the league, so....Scheyer has two years to get Duke back to a Final Four. After that villagers with torches and pitch folks will be storming the castle.

Are you sure about this?Scheyer has two years to get Duke back to a Final Four. After that villagers with torches and pitch folks will be storming the castle.
It’s silly. He will probably be back this year. Are you sure about this?
K looked like Nosferatu last night. Maybe all the blood drained from his face as the game went on and he knew they were going to lose. Glad he sat up out of his coffin long enough to see his protege lose last night and send the fans home cranky on a Friday night.Duke loses at home to Arizona despite 8 vs 5 with refs and jay bias pandering for every call.
