Since South Carolina has beaten just 1 top 10 team all year so I would slow down a little on thoughts of a Final Four or National Championship.
Well, it's the only one they've played thus far...no one has talked about national championships for this season....

Whoops - based on current ranking they have indeed only played one top ten ranked team this year but they LOST - UNC now ranked #6. Kentucky who was ranked in the top ten earlier and who they beat is now ranked #13/12

USC is not so special yet. They have yet to put together a truly competitive schedule that gives any evidence of her abilities as a game coach.

CLE802A From the sound of your post I think we should just hand over the National Championship trophy to Dawn now, Geno and Chris should just retire, and KML, Stewie, Moriah, Tuck, Banks, Stokes, Williams, Ekmark, Edwards and Nurse should all just take up volleyball...

And you were drooling over Lindsay Lohan, close to your daughters age?

Disgusting.
umm no. But she was a bit older than my daughter. Lindsay was adorable back when she was young. Did a nice job in Parent Trap, Mean Girls, A Prairie Home Companion. But as we know she's gone way off the rails.

In my eyes, Dawn Staley has earned utmost respect. Those who doubt or question her ability to teach, to lead, her passion for winning, will likely have a hard time understanding the next era in wcbb. For the past 30 years, the top slot in the SEC has been filled. No longer, now it is open. I anticipate Dawn and South Carolina will fill that void.

The two quotes I like: “It’s like I have ESPN or something. My brea$ts can always tell when it’s going to rain. Well… they can tell when it’s raining.”

“We only carry sizes one, three and five. You could try Sears.”

It is almost as difficult to gain acceptance to UNC as it is to Ivies if you are out of state...never ceases to amaze me how confidently uniformed some BoneYarders are.
Boneyarders are typically very uniformed, but we're frequently well informed as well. Anyone (homer) who thinks that UNC is a school closer to the Ivies than UConn is delusional. UConn is just as tough to get into and the "rankings" are just an attempt to discern a difference based on factors that are largely unmeasureable, never mind rankable. State Universities are not small private colleges and due to the cohort they must draw from (state students) they must be geographically challenged - resulting in a solid but not tippy top academic class. Based on town school systems, the average student in Connecticut is subjected to a far more academically rigorous system than the average North or South Carolinian student. Therefore a pool of students from CT vs a pool of students from the Carolinas should result in UConn being superior to UNC, ratings be damned. That's just common sense.

Classic Line: "She doesn't even go here!"

Also, Wilson's visit to SC is still this weekend no? So maybe her decision is looming because it is her last official visit, right?

Did you notice I said "out of state"? Did you notice I referred to "acceptance"? As for independent ratings, well, damn them if you want to...I guess you feel you can just rate them yourself. Go for it Bubba. IAC, both UCONN and NC are fine Universities.

I believe it will be after her HS season. Not sure she that is.

You can't ignore what's brewing at South Carolina. And I agree Coates could be great—definitely a bit underrated out of HS. And with Dawn's success in developing Ibiam, I assume Coates's potential will get realized (though she's already making a strong impact).

If not for Coates, Jatarie does not even consider South Carolina. And if not for Jatarie, I don't think South Carolina would have nearly as good a chance at signing Wilson as they do.

Their 3 bigs would be a nightmare playing together for 3 years. Bianca Cuevas has been ranked all over the place likely due to her size, but it's possible she could be a Shannon Bobbitt-esque PG for them.

Heck, you brought up mean girls. That is where those pics are from.

Parent trap? Adorable.
I brought up the quote from Mean Girls. Which was from Rachel McAdams. You brought up Lohan......just sayin'..

Ah, now Amanda Seyfried still is "adorable".

You realize this is true of the universities you're disparaging as well, right?

UNC system has 17 campuses.

I've asked this question a couple of times but never gotten a knowledgeable answer. Whenever I see info about state flagship universities, I wonder whether published data includes all campuses or just the main one. For example, I've seen UNC info listed as UNC Chapel Hill, so I presume it doesn't include info about students at other campuses. However, when I see UConn data it is never listed as UConn - Storrs, just UConn. Does anyone know if UConn data includes Stamford, Avery Point, etc. or just Storrs.

Thats exactly my point in a prior post in this thread.

UNC's ranking is only for Chapel Hill. Their other locations such as Wilmington, Greensboro etc are seperate universities. Whereas UCONN is all branches together in one big pile. They DO NOT distinguish between Storrs and AP, HArtford, Waterbuty etc. If UCONN - STORRS was just ranked on its own and only its acceptance data/ SAT scores used , then their ranking would be even higher. The quality of student that attends UCONN STORRS for 4 years (right out of hs) is a tope level student. Not yet quite IVY LEAGUE material but an excellent student nonetheless. The exciting thing is that the quality of student continues to get better and better and will be reflected in the upcoming year's rankings.

Wrong. See separate rankings here.

In addition...Universities are ranked on a number of criteria...here(US News & WR) NC is 30, UCONN 57. You are welcome to dismiss anything but if I have to choose between some bubba pseudonamed Drumguy on a message board, and US news, well as you say, common sense answers that one.

I did miss the "out of state", so my bad there! Same would be true of UConn if you are applying from out of state. Bubba yourself, and yes I agree they are both fine universities. As an alum of UConn though I'm a little sensitive to these "ratings" when they are extremely subjective. And my kids attended Ivies so I am aware of the difference in acceptance and ratings.

We actually had a fairly exhaustive discussion a few years back on the value of an education and school rankings, it was fascinating.

As a player, yes, I am still not convinced as a coach from what I have seen.
