I apologize if it’s been mentioned elsewhere, but he has some interesting connections.

EDIT: some confusion on my end, for some reason in my head I thought Kimani Young was at one point involved with the NY Rens AAU team.

He’s actually a stretch 4 power forward. Coming out of high school, his final four were UNLV, Providence, Tennessee, and Wichita State

From August 2017...

Rhode Island, UNLV The Latest To Offer Ntambwe | Zagsblog
Rhode Island and UNLV have recently offered 6-foot-8, 205-pound Joel Ntambwe.

A multi-layered Class of 2018 prospect, Ntambwe will play his senior year at Scotland Campus Sports in Scotland, Pa.

Rhode Island assistant Tom Moore and head coach Dan Hurley have been intrigued with Ntambwe, who has the potential to be a jack of all trades at that level.

I really like the kid but this kind of makes it a must get imo

Now this kid should be strongly considered. Very good upside. Has good range and can rebound. I have 2 questions. Hopefully someone could answer for me. 1) why is he transferring? 2) Is he eligible immediately?

Kuminga is his brother? Sign him up yesterday.

Kimani didn't coach with Rens. He was with New Heights--precious and sid's former team

The coach got fired.

Unlikely.

New coach at UNLV. And sit 1 to play 3

Don’t know 1 but I thought the NCAA passed a rule that allows a player to transfer and be immediately eligible the next year

Do potential transfers usually take a lot of visits? Or do we have a real good shot of landing him being that we got him on campus first?

it’s interesting timing. Within the last two days, there were reports that Ntambwe had met with the new UNLV coach and was staying.

Firing is murkier than coach taking a new job. I know firing was part of the same initial proposal of transfer eligibility though
Yes self-serving but kids should be allowed to transfer & play right away if the head coach leaves a program for whatever reason. When a coach leaves a program the remaining players future is in the hands of the new coach who can have an entirely different vision about the players he wants.

This would be a very nice addition.

Also, bringing in a transfer that will have to sit a year probably adds more fuel to the speculation that we’ll have more than one roster opening
