Something tells me you may be substituting "Brian Kelly's misfit at LSU" in a few. After Moorhead's misfit at Miss State, I don't think he was an attractive candidate for Southern schools.

Seems like Joe didn’t jump on the opportunity and Jim came in and took it. If Dave had hired Moorhead, he’d have been giving the fans what they wanted and making a very “safe” hire in the sense that no one would criticize it. Mora seems to have come after the job and won Dave over in the process.Gotta think DB and Moorhead didn't click. According to those in the know, JM can have a edge to his personality and for whatever reason DB and JM didn't hit it off. There may have been other factors. Who knows? For that matter, who cares at this juncture? UConn has its guy and so far he has shown a very astute and deft touch. Looking forward to more.

You're a bright guy. I figured that you would figure it out from the context even though both have the same initials.JM is our guy, not the other guy.
Who knows? It might have been a DB term and condition to allow the new HC the maximum leeway without an awkwardness. Personally, I don't think DB goes out to ID to convince him to take the job. To me it looks like they were getting every last detail laying flat before anything was announced.I was not aware that Spanos was on Mora's UCLA staff. Surprised Spanos isn't sticking around....but not disappointed.

Back to the topic @ hand…
-> The hiring of Charlton is not finalized but was close on Tuesday afternoon, according to UConn sources. He would be a considered a coup for UConn and critical in upgrading the offense, particularly the quarterback position.
Maine made Charlton the youngest head coach in Division I when he was promoted from offensive coordinator/quarterbacks coach in December 2018 at age 30. His teams were among the most potent offenses in FCS, averaging 296.5 passing yards and 29.5 points per game in 2019, his first season. In three seasons, Maine was 14-13, with a win over FBS UMass this past season.
Prior to joining Maine, Charlton was a grad assistant at Boston College, working with Steve Addazio and Ryan Day. <-
1.) The Rumor on the Charlton contract holdup is (in my best Maine accent) “Charlton couldn’t get here from there” to sign the contractThanks getting this thread on track.
1) I wonder what’s holding up the Charlton contract?
2) Any DC news or rumors?
I thought I saw the position opening was listed through 11/30---if that is correct, then I would believe tomorrow....but I can easily be incorrect. (memory recall gets affected in us as we ageThanks getting this thread on track.

Are you suggesting joe was monitoring the situation while mora took the Louisville gameplan?Seems like Joe didn’t jump on the opportunity and Jim came in and took it. If Dave had hired Moorhead, he’d have been giving the fans what they wanted and making a very “safe” hire in the sense that no one would criticize it. There we go…
-> "I am incredibly excited to join Coach Mora's staff and help this program reach new heights,” Charlton said. “This is a tremendous opportunity and I look forward to getting started right away as we build a dynamic, exciting offense that UConn Nation will be proud of. As New England natives, my wife and I are thrilled to join the UConn family and uphold the national standing of this great university. It's time to get to work and I couldn't be more thrilled to do so for all of UConn Nation!" <-
An OL coach too....Christmas coming early this year. Now let's get some info on DC!
I’m thinking/educated guessing based on job posting and Pehrson’s bio this is the old Director of Football Operations position enhanced. This might've been addressed here already but I couldn't find a post - what exactly does the GM do?

From the Courant:
Pehrson, 37, was the director of recruiting at Texas Tech for past three years. Before that, he worked in a similar capacity at Houston and Navy. At UConn he’ll likely be organizing camps and recruiting visits, among other duties. A college baseball player, he played two years in the Baltimore Orioles’ farm system.
“Preston possesses a relentless work ethic and has a variety of experiences and knowledge that will help to enhance and improve our recruiting operation,” Mora said in a statement from UConn. “This is a critical position for our program, and I know Preston is the right man for the job.”
