Jen's George Washington vs St. Joe's in A-10 championship game

GW has a feisty, scrappy point guard, Mei-Lyn Bautista, who's willing her team play tougher. Sound familiar?

GW up 14-10, St. Joe's calls a time out

It's turning into kind of a rough game, physically, with kids hitting the deck or going to the sideline with bumps and bruises.

GW up 27-18 with about 4 minutes left in the first half.

GW just got an and-1 and leads 27-18.

Kinda interesting that both teams have identical records at 18-13 and 10-6 in the A-10.

32-24 at the half for GW. Fingers crossed. It would be a great win.

I would feel more comfortable about GW winning if they could extend their lead above 10 points. They get a 10 point lead and then have 2 to 4 empty possessions in a row that enbables St Joe's to get the lead down to 4 to 6 points. GW leads at the half 32 - 24.

I do seem to recall that GW had played a really tough OOC schedule for an A10 school and got knocked around quite a bit before conference play.

GW definitely played a tougher nonconference schedule than St. Joe's, taking losses to USF, Maryland, Syracuse, Princeton, South Dakota State, Mercer, and Vanderbilt.

I had forgotten that Jen Rizzotti was at GW now. I'm rooting for her and them. GW is one of those silently storied WBB programs.

GW's point guard Bautista is channeling Jen Rizzotti now. Rips the ball out of the other teams hand (ala Gabby Williams) after setting a great screen for a 3 pt shot and then hits a bullet 3/4 court pass to get a layup. :D:D

Is this Brittany Jackson, former Lady Vol, doing color analysis?

She's good.

Can’t help but think that if Jen & GW won this her reward will be #1 UCONN in the first round of NCAA.
NCAA and ESPN will love that storyline.

I try to keep reminding myself that it's a compliment to UConn's greatness that they want to keep talking about the semifinal game and not the final.

How's that working for yuh? Me I hit mute and go get a snack. I'm up 15 pounds, but ...

GW would be a #12 or #13 seed. They wouldn't play a #1 until the Sweet 16.

Right now, ESPN has GW as a #14 seed in Louisville's bracket. If they win the tournament today, their seeding should improve.

Really. An 18-13 team that is 5th best in the A10 would be a 12/13. Ok. I’m not that much into bracketology so i will take ur word.

This is the weekend of the missed lay ups. Que up the Geno on missed lay ups!

GW's Mahaney lighting it up from 3 pt land. 4 of 6 and clutch. :D

A finalist in the A10 tourney gets bumped up a few seeds. Plus, GW beat the #1 & #4 in this tournament. There are some mid- major teams that are destined for 15 & 16 seeds.

2 at the buzzer and great defense. Now, no "prevent" offense please.

GW is slowing the ball down with 5 minutes left in the game and a 16 point lead. Lead 57-41. If the game is like the previous three quarters, the 16 point lead should be enough, even if St Joe's goes on a run.

She's doing her coaches number proud.

I tell ya what, I saw GW play Syracuse and Vanderbilt back in November, and this team has come a *long* way.

Bautista is an outstanding floor general for them, as Nan described above.
Cummings is very impressive to me. Apparently she's only recently emerged as an offensive force.
Mahaney has been another difference maker with her 3-point shooting.

But more than anything, I love their cohesion and team-first attitude. You can see it in their body language. They're playing for each other.

GW is going to the Tournament. Great finish to their Year.

Quinnipiac is also going to the tournament. Will they be a Cinderella again?
