Jaylin Stewart staying put at UConn

atta boy stewie - this is wonderful news. Another year will be huge from him. This 'no honor amongst thieves' mentality with the portal and playing time is so short sighted. Happy for him and can't wait to watch him play next year.

Juniors are generally better than sophomores, so I am happy that UConn's investment in Stewart has another year. He can put the ball in the basket.

He has to get better on defense. By this I mean that 1) we actually need him to get better on defense, and 2) I also do not see how he could be any worse.
I'm not sure what you were watchng but by the end of the year he was one of best defensive players and the metrics back it up. You just have some very strange takes. Do you even know anything about basketball or just like to say some crazy stuff to get a reaction?

That's big time. I think he's got a "connector" element to him, he's just got to dial it in and refine it. He's been far too careless with the ball and not detail oriented. But I am a big believer in JStew to breakout in year 3.

Like to see kids playing multiple seasons in a UConn uni.
Uncle Donny just might have had something to do with Stewies decision
At least we know AK is unlikely to play at UConn next season, I have real mixed feelings on that one.

What are the deadlines to enter the draft and to portal? Thrilled with JS staying. I thought he was waiting to hear what AK and LM are doing, but maybe he knows and it's just not public now. Guessing JS staying means LM is going pro.

Did we have to merge threads or did 15 people just feel obligated to repost the exact same IG post to harvest likes?

Also, great news!

It’s good he’s coming back but you guys aren’t seriously penciling him in as a starter right? If Karaban doesn’t come back he has to get recruited over

I hope AK doesnt come back. He really gains absolutely nothing coming back. Its time for him to move on. My selfish side would take him back but its time for him to move on he owes no one anything.

Good news. I figured he was gone based on Jamar’s posts after Florida game.

Bad news is we have to hear Gus Johnson talk about Donny’s cousin.
Better than hearing Donny trash UConn basketball.

To be fair, he’s gotten better since we became good again….

I can give an explanation. The board is currently set to wait 30 minutes for any new threads to load. I'm told that's because at this time of year there are fans from other teams coming on here to talk crap so that gives admins 30 minutes to delete those threads. So within that 30 minutes there were multiple posters trying to break the Stewart news, including me, because they didn't see it posted yet. Once the 30 minutes was up there were multiple threads with the Stewart news and an admin merged them all together. So that's why the start of this thread is a mess.

Now that the season is over can the admins take that setting off? There is going to be more breaking news in the next few weeks.

Don't think he'll be penciled in regardless, but I expect him to compete with Mullins for the starting 3 spot if Karaban is here

Very happy for Stewie to come back! He’s always full of positive energy on the court.

Some observations about his defense. He usually stands tall with his hands up. This leads to faster reaction times when the ball handler shoots — note, he gets quite a few blocks as a result. The downside is when the ball handler spins and tries to drive by he’s a bit slower to react, often leading to getting beat on the dribble or being driven by. I hope the coaches can work on his footwork to find balance with a wider stance and a more crouched position to react quicker. I’m no pundit on this — just a person that used to play recreational bball in the past.

I hope he gets 15-20min per game this season. He deserves it. Came in often and gave us quick buckets and energy when the team had been struggling.

Let’s go Jaylin! 2025 is your year!
