Jaylin Stewart in Portal

Happy for Jaylin. I wonder if the plan is for him to be their starting 3. If I'm not mistaken their lineup would be:

Rowan Brumbaugh (PG)
David Terrell Jr (SG)
Jaylin Stewart (SF)
Nic Codie (PF)
Jaden Toombs (C)

That's a decent lineup that probably competes for a bid.

Very surprised Gonzaga never reached out to JS.
He would not have started at Gonzaga for the same reason he would not have started here. He was clearly looking for a place to have a chance at starter’s minutes and that wasn’t going to come at a top program. Happy he found a good landing spot. Hope he kills it this season.

Best of luck to him. Forever husky. May be a wild take but I wonder if we were waiting for him to land to go after a back up PF and holding a spot for him in case that didn’t pan out. I like that story at least.

Interesting, nobody, but one tweet reports SMU. Not JStew agency, not SMU, not one media source. I would check the source, but sounds at least right now as fake news.

Not a bad landing spot. Hope he gets a chance to start and play significant minutes.
SMU is not bad place to be. I just hope he crushes it there by getting good minutes, say 25-30 per game.
Wish Jaylin nothing but the best at SMU. I hope he gets the playing time he was looking for.
Me, too. Jaylin will have a chance to do something many times that no UConn player has ever done before even once: win at Moody Coliseum.

He didn't go with Luke, but he is in the same conference. They played once last year. That'll be a game to tune into.
Man these conferences are such Frankensteins. I had to look back up what conference SMU is in because I had no idea (because it still makes no sense being in the "ACC").

One of the few former Husky transfers I'll actually track with interest.
Definitely I will won't change the channel if I happen to get to a SMU game. I watched Aidan Mahaney a few times at UC Santa Barbara. It's a shame they didn't get into the NCAAT this year.

What's weird about it? Hope he crushes it.
Yeah, I don't get it. Gets himself into an ACC program, made the tourney last year and should have some good NIL. Thought he'd wind up further west, but seems like a solid landing spot. He'll get to play Luke, and then some really good programs (Duke, UNC, LV, UVa). I'll be pulling for the Mustangs and the, gulp, Golden Eagles.

I know it never clicked as many thought it would with Stewie here at UConn but he was a trooper playing meaninful minutes off the bench and getting better especially on D. He was always supporting his teammates on the court as a great bench layer. He will be missed. Good fortune at SMU Stewie except if you play us in the tourney.

Totally hate to see this dude go, it feels sad. Circumstances don't always swing how we want'em to. I'm sure Jaylin's first choice would have been to stay at UConn, but he found himself in a spot, where the necessity of looking out for his own best interests has forced him to play elsewhere. I wish him the absolute best, I hope he makes a veteran jump this year and has a great season.
